Classics Jazz - WIP

Recommended Posts

I've been itching to expand my Classics line, but being a Kitbashing virgin, it's made me a little aprehensive. Now, there're still going to be those Classics customs that I won't do, that I'll commission, due to complexity that I don't have talent for, but there will be those that will be so easy, there'd be no reason for me to not attempt it.

My first idea is an Autobot I've been growing more and more fond of, lately, thanks to his Alternator counterpart. Making him into a Classics figure stumped me for awhile until this morning. I noticed that Bumblebee/Cliffjumper aren't really Volkswagen Beetles, and figured I could use their mold (since so few were made in the Classics line) for other cars, that wouldn't work with Rodimus' (seeing as how there're really only 2 car molds...).

So, to see if my idea would even look decent, I did a digibash.

Swap heads with Grimlock, add a strip-styrene nose, paint & Reprolabels (I've already ordered them - too late - so, I'm hoping they'll be somewhat comparable in size), and you've got Classics Jazz:

I'm buying parts when the stores open later today, and I'll keep a running WIP photo journal for those that also think this is a cool idea, and want to know how I'm doing it.

it's an interesting idea, i hope it works out how you want it to

It looks great, but i'd use the smokescreen mold with grimlock head.

Ah, I like this idea. Grimlock's face always made me think he had a small mouth over the chin. The rise of Classic Basics! ~_^

sweet, it gives me a pretender Jazz vibe :thumb

Looks great. The idea of using Smokescreen would most likely work too.

I love the idea of using Grimlock's head as Jazz's. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Aoi

I agree with Hotrod. Cybertron Smokescreen or Crosswise (same mold different colors) would be a better choice and more accurate. You also wouldn't even need to do a head swap, just mode the helmet a little. It would pretty much be a straight repaint.

using Classics bumblebee isn't as good an idea because the transformation is so radically different than Jazz.

I don't care. This is for me. I'm not an idiot, no matter how many people keep thinking it. I know it's a drastic change. Cybertron SS/CW is a hideous figure/car, and too many people are already making it into Jazz.

I like this idea. I'm making this figure. You don't have to do either. I just thought I'd share. 'Scuse me.

There's constructive criticism, and just plain criticism.

I have yet to hear positive criticizing...

Looks nice! Is there a reason why Martinii is written with two i ?
