The funny thing is my collection of mainline 'bots (now mostly hiding in plastic bins :redface ) would likely be a lot smaller if I had been able to find new Alternators easier. Quite a few of those were impulse purchases done to avoid having made a "wasted" trip.

I am planning on picking up five movie 'bots. (We'll have to see how strong my resolve ends up being :lol )

Voyager Prime

Voyager Starscream

Deluxe nu-Camaro Bumblebee

Deluxe Jazz

Ultimate Bumblebee

I'm going to hold off on the movie bots.. well, most of em. Those real life ones like the camera and the cellphone are going to be going in. The voyagers look pretty sweet, but I'd rather see some reviews before I rush out and buy em.

Ya know thats the thing.. if people are buying transformers for 'collectors value' and never sell it off.. what would be the point in amassing a collection? Thats where MISB people confuse me.. open yer damn toys or sell em all.. its not like they'll be worth that much as an inhertiance to your next of kin in your passing or anything..

Obiviously the above statement tells ya what side of the fence I'm standing on.

I don't doubt my time as a 'serious collector' will come to an end.. (as far as I'm concerned those days are becoming numbered even now) but the collection itself will probably be with me for awhile. I just won't be adding anything to it.

MISB for value is indeed stupid. I never really got what the whole 'boxed'-thing was about untill I saw board member Megatr1n's collection pics. It's like walking in to a TF-toystore. And it looks super-sweet. So I'm planning on keeping the pretty boxes (Like Takara stuff) and putting the TF's back in them for display. Not all of my collection, but parts. I will however continue to open the boxes for fiddling. They are meant to be played with after all...

LMAO on the two 'edits' in this topic. No offense, I just thought they were funny.

A little over a year ago I got rid of a few TFs. Some that I didn't like, some that were taking up space, and about 95% of all the G1 re-issues I bought. I'd say that I have come to realize some things about this hobby and that is: some TFs are just absolute junk, TFs these days are too big and bulky, and that the G1 toys are not as impressive today as back in the '80s. I'm much more impressed with the tech of today's toys than with yester-years designs.

I still have quite a lot of TFs left, but I look at them as a work of art, not so much as a toy. I don't necessarily keep them MISB because if the toy is awesome, I'd like to take a hands on 'look' at them. Those that are MISB, I probably have duplicates of (because I really like the mold), or I don't have the time to look them over, or I may end up getting rid of them in the future.

At this point, I'm only buying what I like. Money isn't so much an issue with me, so I can pretty much get any TF toy there is. I'm not in a situation where I have to sell for profit.

I have been collecting for 19 years. But in the past three or four years my wife has been feeding my addiction, until last week when she said she wanted to leave me. Now I cant even look at my collection so it is either sold or time for me to throw them in the dumpster. She wants me to move on and I cant do that with memories everywhere I look. :tfsad

I say sell them. Even if you sell them dirt cheap you will still put some money in your pocket. I guess a dumpster would be easier :tflaugh .

nice plan

Yeah, sell them. You'll just have some regrets from time to time, but you'll be alright. Maybe it's like stopping smoking. At least that's what I imagine. Probably in the end, you'll be happier with your wife than alone with the remains of your childhood.

Sell them one by one on eBay to make the most money out of them, starting with the bigger ones to make some room. And when you're finished, buy this rare piece you've always wanted, keep it in your closet and take it out from time to time.

That's what I say to myself too :tflaugh

I never sold my original toys from when I was a kid, I just played with them into oblivion... I was a heavy believer in applying "battle damage" :redface .... my G1 prime's last battle with magatron (aka galvatron toy since I never had a megatron toy) ended with an M-80 tied to his torso and smoke bombs going off in his trailer
