Steel Justice sounds like something a Marvel Superhero would be called, isn't there one called that? I might have renamed Prime as Roadram or Lorrtruck, that was then anyway. These days I would probably repaint a Prime and call it Lesira.

I guess it could have been worse. Optimus Prime could have been called Justice Truck and you'll see Mickey and Minnie driving him around instead of Sparkplug and Spike.

That would be creepy if that had happened. Inside of battles, there would be hug contests and instead of a civil war, it would be a story about making the universe all cuddly and nice. The horror.

I personally do not understand the dislike of the name Optimus Prime. It basically means "the first and the best" or "the best of the best", and it is a timeless and pretty dang cool name. It seems like an important name for an iconic-type character. The name fits with who he was and will always be. I just don't quite understand any hatred for same name.

Of course I don't understand hating Optimus Prime just cause he's very popular, iconic, and gets attention. Hating him just cause he's popular/well-liked and iconic always seemed a bit out of line and a tad stupid, but that's just me.

EDIT:

To actually answer the question...if I had the task of naming him back then, I probably would have called Optimus Prime something like --

1.) Powertrain

2.) Guardian

3.) Convoy (which can actually mean to guard, not necessarily a group)

4.) Sentinel

5.) Paladin

6.) Maximus

7.) Vanguard

8.) Overdrive

Considering it was the 80's, I probably would've gone with the old Hanna-Barbara/He-Man naming convention of "what it is +or/ar." In this case Prime most likely would have been Truckor, or something along those lines.

Once upon a time, I would like to think that Transformer names could never stoop that low. But then Beast Machines came along and gave us names like "Tankor." And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than that, RiD came along and gave us "Mo-Vor," "Ro-Tor" and "X-Brawn." Excuse me for a moment while I huddle into a corner and cry now...

I agree.

Anyway, for a name, hmm...not sure.

I'm that creative. I probably just would have stuck with Convoy itself cause it too sounds neat and does work considering when one thinks "convoy" one thinks "trucks"

you could always call him "Jackknife"

but then he'd have to be an evil truck with that name, wouldn't he

I like Highway, Road King and Big Rig

I'd have called him:

18 Wheels of Justice.

But it only had 10 wheels....

Neither did the truck in this show:

Its like Renegade crossed with Nightrider :tflaugh

I guess it could have been worse. Optimus Prime could have been called Justice Truck

:schin

sold!

If the Autobot leader was meant to be some bad-ass matriarch, then you could call her "mothertrucker." ;p
