Question: If RSP made reproductions would you buy them?

Recommended Posts

I recall reading on TFormers that transrepros (not to be confused with Ken's Transrepro) site is gone because he sold a repro action master at a local con. This was a few months ago.

TFormers entry about transfrepros closing

UPDATED! We have just learned that Transrepros.com a maker and supplier of reproduction replacement parts has been served a legal notice by Hasbro lawyers to cease some or all of their operations. Based on numerous postings in online forums, it is being speculated that the legal action was brought about due to the recent distirbution of an Actionmaster reproduction at an unofficial Transformers fan event held recently in Pasedena, CA. Read on for more news and updates on this story as it becomes available.

UPDATE - These comment have been posted on the Transrepros.com site:

Hasbro Toys has requested I discontinue the sale of all reproduction stickers and accessories. This comes as a bit of a shock to me, since I myself am a huge Transformers fan, and started both translabels.com and transrepros.com out of the love for all things Transformers I have had over the past 20 years. So it would seem that sadly, my doors will be closing. If you have a pending order, please do not worry, Once I have settled into my new home in SC next week (The week of July 19th), I will contact all appropriate parties to settle accounts with them.

Its been fun!

C Wallace

That was actually a LONG time ago.

As for other stuff. We have seeker missiles and tailwings on the way. I almost purchased that $65 Convoy Buggy for just this purpose, but I'm a little tied up.

We have plenty of G1 parts due to my library, but stuff like custom parts are a little less likely to happen on our end since are sculptor is a Joe specialist. Can't compete with Hal there. I wish we could help. If ever there was a plate that was full, it is his. He has a lot of awesome projects on the way. With the Hasbro car reissues being so cheap, we probably wont dabble in making a 5 dollar part when you can pick the whole toy up on clearance for ten.

:clap seeker missiles!!!

another idea would be gestault parts. they arn't all that expensive on their own but when you add up the cost they're a small fortune.

another idea, Swoop's beak

also, how hard/expensive is it to do chrome?

I disagree with the idea that parts should not be made because one can get the whole toy for just a little more.

There are TONS of seeker bodies out there, that could use a decent wing replacement kit set.

And I'm sure there are THOUSANDS of G1 car's that just need a replacement windshield to get them back on the road, in at least customizable condition.

I for one would rather invest $5 to rebuild a G1 Prowl, to make a custom out of than take a remake and trash that. What a waste to throw something away just because of something like that.

Use the repro toys to make molds of key parts from, and then put them back together!

If it were cheap and easy we'd all be doing it.

i'd sure it'd be cheaper/easier for somebody who knew what they where doing :tftongue

We've a chrome silver that looks pretty good, but it isn't very durable. We know of a company who can do the whole vaccuum metalizing, but it is an outsource and too costly for such a venue.

Some S2000 gunbarrels and a lightpiping Wheeljack would be nice for Alternators. :)

AAA Haaaa!! :thumb :clap

I could go for that.

I myself would like to see a venue (besides overseas, which costs more to ship than to purchase) for getting repro's of stuff we never got here. I saw the Japanese headmasters mentioned and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing that (or even Scorponok's head -- think I lack that. And the Scorp parts!). One other thing that would be way cool would be the Japanese tapes that we never got (Garafi? and the like). You're probably treading a legal border with that though so I wouldn't really expect much.
