How many of you are almost done?

The only characters from G1 I'd like to have are the season 1 & 2 bots. The others I don't really care too much about.

Those are my thoughts exactly (although I did expand a little beyond '85 to '86 and the movie bots).

Most things after '86 and definitely '87 I have have no interest in getting.

I agree.  These are the characters that have the most sentimental value to me.  I also feel the toys have the best engineering [and] (designs originating in the 1970's/early 80's), best vehicle modes, and best cartoons compared to later TFs.

I agree completely w/ this. I just don't know about the cartoon though. I am a big fan of Beast Wars and even Beast Machines, so while the G1 cartoon has sentimental value for sure, I think that BW was much better overall.

For normal G1's

US - have them all bar Bumblejumper

UK - have them all

Japanese - need 1 headmaster head and Browning (though we have the diaclone (baring a few recolours)

G2 need Gobot Prime and Megatron (not bothered about the dinobots)

Goki: Maximo Prime: you were right

Thanks, I was checking them out today.  Neat little buggers.

Micromaster six-combiners aside, I have 6 Micromasters - Vanquish/Fireshot, and the Hot Rod team.  (those guys are so cool, I'm so glad they got some spotlight in the MM series)

EDIT:  Man, my Outback Excel spreadsheets have got my eyes goin all googly.

I've figured that I am currently on the hunt for 259 G1 Transformers, and some parts.  This is assuming I don't go for any pretenders besides the Monstructor components.

Yikes.  If I never get another new TF (yeah like that's gonna happen), that would put me at 954.

The Pretender Monsters are CRAP - arguably some of the weakest Pretender toys ever made. Even if their only saving grace is the fact that they combine into a gestalt robot, it is a Blot gestalt.

If you're only going to collect one line of Pretenders, I would recommend getting the Classic Pretenders. Grimlock and Jazz are fairly ordinary, but Starscream is okay and Bumlebee seriously rocks. IMO, Bumblebee was the coolest of all the Pretenders.

I can't remember who said they started collecting for character - hey maybe it was you? :) - but that's why I'm grabbing these guys... despite their shrimpy size and all the other hoo-hah...just such a damn cool character.

It's funny for me...

I grew up with G1, and I loved it then.

But now, G1 is pretty much all just sentimental nostalgia for me.  I still have the (approximately) 50 G1 toys I had from back in the day, and I pretty much have no intentions of getting any more, save for a few specific ones if find them for dirt cheap (y'know, things like Soundwave, cassettes, Predaking, etc).

My reasoning is that I'm more out to buy good toys, rather than collectables. Poseable, articulated toys that look (mostly) the same in both show and toy forms...

So I'm VERY far from having all of G1.  :D

Please do not mention "hoo-hah" again. It is slang for "Night Viper".  :tftongue

Cool characters? They got the crap beaten out of them by human-Autobot resistance guerilla fighters in New York. And they never merged into Monstructor (not that I would've done much good). I think Galvatron was glad to be rid of them. :P :P

I just realized that I only need four bots now. Rock on!

I don't think I'll ever be finished There are so many foreign figures and whatnot that I'll always have something to do. The US set has been fun. I've only been seriously working on it for about a year and a half. I figured that it would be a relief, but I think it's just going to open a bigger nastier can of worms. At least I knew I could occasionally find something I need at a toy show. Now, everything I need can't be easily obtained stateside.
