How many of you are almost done?

Do you guys consider using reissues to fill in the holes of your G1 collections? Or do you  get the original G1 figures?

Any thoughts and comments about this issue? What's your take?

I considered about just using reissues since their just nice, clean, new and complete. I think the only cconsiderations about this is if the reissues were dramatically different.

I collect them both as separate lines. They are not a G1 replacement for me.

I agree, but for now, I think I"m going to use them as a replacement for now. Once I get more financial secure, I'll purse the originals.

I should clarify. I use reissues as G1 filler until I can get the boxed original. So then it doesn't really count...

most of my G1 is reissues hell thier the same molds bar a few details

:pfx doesn't matter to me, i'm not a MISB collector, so whether it's 80s or brand new, it's cool with me.

plus most of the hard to find Blot isn't reissued anyway, so it only applies to the most popular of bots.

My friend, that is a butt-ugly list.

Have you noticed that the gaps in my collection explodes from 2003 onwards when HasTak just went crazy with the repaints? I have no interest in getting them either, so they're likely to remain permanent holes in my collection. Energon Energon Hot Shot can go lick my Lugnutz (which I intend to buy tomorrow as my second "Anti-Christ Transformer" 06-06-06; my first Anti-Christformer was Energon Scorponok, who became my 666th Transformer in 2004). d:

As for me, I collected nothing from G2 to Beast Machines. I was out of TFs at the time, and frankly, I hated them. I still won't collect G2, but will instead try to pick up the 91-93ish European stuff. I still don't like the Beast era at all (toys I mean-the show rocks). I started up again with RiD. I also have no desire for bizarre exclusives, i.e. the things you'd get at Sam's, CostCo or Kohl's type places

Boo! BWTFs rule!! Besides, all the coolness about the CR/RiD toys (highly detailed sculpting, no less than 9 points of articulation in robot mode etc) came from Beast Wars! Beast Machines had some artistic merit and they were pretty neat action figures... but I agree that they are pretty weak Transformers. d:

I agree that early G2 was really weak... hence why my G2 collection is pretty darn small (and again, will most likely always remain that way), but the later G2 figures were pretty well designed and in fact established the precedence for Beast Wars figures in terms of a higher level of technical engineering - and for that reason, I do want to collect some of the later G2 figures, like the Cyber Jets, Laser Cycles, Cyberjets (I have 2 already) and especially Combat Hero Optimus Prime! (I have Hero Megatron, he's sweeeeeet).

I agree with you, HotSpot-seventeen... I do use reissues as fillers for my G1 line. It's just cheaper and easier. I had my original Optimus Prime and Megatron stolen in a recent burglarly - but having the reissues for me means that I don't have to hunt down the originals again. I might get another original Optimus Prime, but getting another Megatron - especially now (I got mine in the 90s when G1 TFs were way cheaper) would be too hard and too costly to make it worth the effort. The reissue will do me fine. :)

But I know other fans who will always insist on the originals only... meh.. to each his own (it just means less demand for reissues which in a way leaves more for me!).

Beast Wars toys got crazy with the asymmetry. I like a little of it, you know for artistic purposes, but in BW, it felt like they were doing it just to make the transformations more complicated. It's a Catch 22. There are only so many ways to TF a Beast form. You make them less wierd, and they are all the same. You make them all different and some end up too wierd. It was a problem inherent in the concept of the line. They did what they could and I appreciate that, but I still don't like them.

But then again, my favourite recent line is Armada so you can't trust me.

The only thing I use reissues for is to strip random parts off of. I sold a Smokescreen to Tom for someone else recently, and right before I shipped it, I noticed that it had a broken rear window. I felt responsible soI sent him my good one and then bought a reissue to swap windows with for the one I kept.

Reissues look out of place and can be spotted a mile away. The whites are just too white. Its not just because they are new. It's just a wierd shade. They almost look like KOs. Of course by now most should know my philosophy.

Reissue = official knock-off
