a realization i've had about BW's energon

The Vok are an evolution of the Swarm - remember that the Swarm was transformed by the Matrix - the newly born Vok in turn ressurected G2 Optimus Prime as Combat Hero Optimus Prime.

And the Vok did not attempt to destroy Earth or its universe/dimension -- they merely scorched its surface in order to "sterilise" it. This is not necessarily evil as we do not understand the full motivation behind their actions. It seems that the Vok felt that the contamination of prehistoric Earth by the BWTFs presented a massive threat to time-space continuum -- which is true --  as revealed in Season 2, as soon as they discovered where and when they were, Megatron immediately acted to change history... his attempt to assassinate Optimus Prime and Tarantulas' attempt to destroy the Ark would have created a time storm that would have severely damaged the fabric of time and space. When faced with such a dire situation, the scorching of the planet's surface can be argued as a justifiable form of destruction. Much like removing diseased tissue, amputating a limb or transplanting a failing organ... but on a grand cosmic scale. Scorching the surface of an entire world may seem extreme, but from a utilitarian POV, it would be the most ethically logical thing to do.

Sound like a good argument to me.

you're grasping at straws. the Vok clearly meant to exterminate all life on Earth, including the proto-humans, and they gave no indication of planning to restart the experiment once Earth had been purged, at least not on that planet.

honestly, why do people want the Vok to be the G2 Swarm so badly? the explanation makes no sense whatsoever.

i think it's because we were told they're an evolved form of the swarm, that simple. people don't want the vok to be the swarm, they just see therm as the swarm because of DiTillo's comments.

"It is too late.  You and your enemies have already contaminated the project.  The harm has been done.....The experiment will be sterilised." - The Vok ("Other Voices Part 1")

'nuff sed.

As I.S.T. said, because Larry DiTillio said so. So until another TF writer retcons otherwise, it's canon.

maybe befor they tryed to "sterillise" they transported the life forms they wanted to keep off the serface

also im sure if they can pull off such acts they could probably make more humans to replace them

sounds like those people are just in denial. making the Vok into the G2 Swarm just doesn't work no mater how many convulated theories the fans try to come up with. and until DiTillo backs up his bullsh*t claim with a story that satisfactory explains away all the inconsistancies, i'm perfectly fine with ignoring his idiotic comments.

again, there was nothing in the toon that indicated this. for all intents and purposes, the Vok were going to exterminate all life on Earth and then abandon the planet.

uh, the alternate G2 swarm that also ate organic matter is a perfectly good and simple explenation. I don't understand why you have a problem with this.

because if you have to go so far as to state that the Vok are an alternate version of the G2 Swarm from a different universe then why not just make them a seperate alien race altogether? why is it so necessary to tie the Vok into the G2 Swarm? plus, it doesn't explain away their inconsistant behavior from the toon.

uh, it's an explenation that can be thought of in exactly three seconds, dude. noto nly that, but it DOES explain the sometimes odd behavior of the Vok. Alternate G2.
