uh, it's an explenation that can be thought of in exactly three seconds, dude. noto nly that, but it DOES explain the sometimes odd behavior of the Vok. Alternate G2.

you're missing the point. if the Vok cannot be tied into the Swarm without stating that they're from an alternate universe then they might as well just be a seperate alien race altogether. DiTillo was completely grasping at straws because he was too arrogant to abandon his bullsh*t claim.

Hornet... calm down man. (^_^)

So you don't want to accept the Swarm origin of the Vok. Fine. That's your perogative. Let's all move on now.

I think it's fairly obvious what the Vok are.  They are the remnants of a fragmented consciousness taken form from a dead Unicron far in the TF future.  Over time, these aspects of unicron take on individual consciousness and become a new race unto themselves, each with a minute part of Unicron's mind and thought.

Now over time, as their consciousness grows and grows, their thoughts start to converge on the idea to return to the power they once had, ie become whole as Uncron once more, but with the physical body all but destroyed they are left to devise a greater scheme.

So they travel back in time (being as they still have such power together) and start their grand plan.  They begin seeding prehistoric Earth with raw energon, so that when the Unicron of the past travels his way to Cybertron, he can make a pit stop at an undefended earth, devour it, and gain all the accumulated power from an entire planet soaked with energon over millions of years, all hopefully before his enemies in the Ark ever awake.  At this level of power, he is unstoppable when he reaches Cybertron.

Only problem is, when the Beast Wars begin on Earth, everything goes awry and the gig is threatened.  If word gets out about all this energon, more transformers may travel into the past, and the Vok's plans are at best forfeit, at worst made even worse (Unicron's coming in the past will actually be expected now, and might have an even GREATER defense put in place against him, destroying him sooner).  So they decide to quickly hide their tracks and scorch all the energon they put in place and start the whole process over again through their wacky time-travelling antics.

Okay, it has a million holes in it I'm sure, but on the fly I like it much better than them being evolved Swarm.  Oh well, it would make them appearing to Primal as Unicron that much more neat.  :-P

Er, yeah, there are - as you admit - heaps of flaws with that suggestion. Three of them being:

(1) Unicron had a very different agenda in Beast Wars... the whole Angolmois Energy quest aside, even within the prehistoric Earth era, we had Unicron running around in Shokoract trying to bust things up.

(2) Unicron is purely a destroyer of worlds. He is pure evil. The Vok are not evil, they are more chaotic neutral (god my geekdom really shows when I say Blot like that d:).

(3) When the Vok manifested themselves as Unicron in front of Primal, they actually disclaimed that they were not Unicron and simply formed the image from Primal's memory banks - as they had no physical form he could comprehend. As the DiTillio explained in the DVD commentary, he really wanted to make the Vok a very bizarre and mysterious alien race upon the Transformers, who themselves are a bizarre alien mechanical life form -- so to up the ante he made them formless, which is basically what the Swarm were as well, especially after they were reformed by the Matrix (which was supposedly the beginning of their evolution into the Vok).
