a realization i've had about BW's energon

Recommended Posts

Thad is right, the Vok did indeed seed prehistoric Earth with raw Energon as part of their experiement. When the BWTFs "contaminated" their experiment, the Vok sought to "sterilise" it with their Planetary Destruction Device. Said device effectively destroyed most of the Energon deposits on Earth, hence why the BWTFs didn't have to worry about Energon field dampeners or Energon overloads, and could freely roam around in robot mode outdoors in Seasons 2 and 3.

As for why, the true motives behind the Vok was never fully revealed due to Hasbro axing the series at the third season - which writers only discovered after they'd already scripted the first half of the season. That's why the second half of season 3 feels rushed, because it was. :) DiTillio and Forward had to quickly wrap up a lot of story arcs that they'd initially intended to spread over at least another season.

I always wondered what the experiment was about. I mean, 6 billion years of watching earth, there has to be a reason for it

I'VE GOT IT!

They watched Earth for 6 billion years because they had nothing better to do :tflaugh  :tflaugh

Of course on the other hand, and forgive me, like some religious beings like God, time could mean nothing to the Vok whatsoever, and what could seem like 6 billion years for us could for them essentially be like the equivalent of like 6 minutes or something.

You never know.

ok...but why would the Vok manufacture raw energon?

maybe the Vok used different methods to sythenize energon from the raw elements? maybe energon cubes are made from artificial sources of energy while energon crystals are made from naturally occuring sources of energy?

as for the Vok's grand experiment, considering that they were perfectly willing to wipe out all life on Earth just because of a few rouge elements, it couldn't have been anything good. my own theory is that the Vok are psionic lifeforms that feed off the mental energy of sentient beings and they were conditioning humanity to worship them as gods.

No one ever said, in G1 history, that energon didn't exist in other forms. Present day earth didn't have any so they had no choice but to process it. On TF:Energon, they had liquid and solid forms of energon buried in different areas of the universe.

I thought the vok=the swarm...

Yes, Larry DiTillio first stated this, and he confirms it again in the DVD audio commentary.

I believe the Vok were trying to make up for all the evil they had committed as The Swarm - being a species born from sin. The Vok believe that they are acting on the side of good... hence why they sent Tigerhawk to destroy Megatron in order to prevent him from creating any further rifts in space-time. Although doing so would actually create a paradox, but Vok-Tigerhawk did not know this -- so the Vok were still acting with good intent.

except that Simmon Furman, the writer who actually invented the swarm, flat-out denies this and states that DiTillio went against his advice.

Perhaps the creators of BW were Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans. There, the Earth and everything on it was created as a giant computer experiment to find the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. The answer to the ultimate question being 42.

:rofl  :rofl

I've had so many deep theoretical discussions with my friends over why the ultimate question's answer is 42.

Though I doubt it.

Another thing to consider is why leave a disc that has all sorts of information on it which could lead to the discovery of certain things like we found out about in season 2.
