I always wondered what the experiment was about. I mean, 6 billion years of watching earth, there has to be a reason for it

Yes, Larry DiTillio first stated this, and he confirms it again in the DVD audio commentary.

except that Simmon Furman, the writer who actually invented the swarm, flat-out denies this and states that DiTillio went against his advice.

until Furman writes it into a comic, he can't retcon it though. it's not as if it's his creation...

I'll explain what I mean.

 

The Vok is the product of DiTillo. the idea of what they USED to be is partially his as well.

 

Furman has to write a story sayign the vok aren't the purified swarm before he can say they aren't. Writer statements mean Blot if he didn't come up with the character in the first place, and isn't currently in charge of everything pertaining to G1. back in the BW era, DiTillo and the guy he worked with(WHose name esacpes me at the moment. and please understand i am in no way minimizing said man's role, I just can't remember his Powerglideing name. :redface) could just make statements that retconned G1 rather than writing them in the stories because they were the only people in charge of the north american TFs, basically.

 

and................. I just realized how odd all that sounds. I've been up for too long. :redface I'll try to sum it up.

 

Furman's full of it until he writes a story involving the swarm after the G2 comic ended/writes a story involving the Vok that retcons them somehow. just syaing they don't is meaningless because he's not the only guy writing TF stories right now.

uh...

 

Universe(The TF series that continues BM) had transformers from armada and all over being plucked into it. while the Vok I believe weren't directly involved with anythign that happened in Universe, Universe does prove multiple dimensions cross over in Transformer Land.

 

and unfortunately that horrible, horrible idea along with Unicron being the same in each universe is canon even though 3H no longer exists due to Universe's toyline.

what about the fact that the Swarm doesn't consume organics, a fact that the Vok backstory ignors? if the Vok were the Swarm then WTF were they doing on prehistoric Earth?

what i've heard about the Vok is basically what Goki said. they were trying to make things right in regards with their evil deeds by setting up humanity to aid the Autobots in another universe. what I read was from Ben Yee's site though, IIRC, making it a better source that just Goki(No offence meant, Goki, but I figure he's a better source than you, and will be believed easier than you will, given his standing in the fandom. sorry.) and what i've read on TFans.

uh... that's not convuluted at all. the Vok is a purified Swarm from an alternate G2 universe. that's it. simple as that.

 

and considering that Furman has retconned other peoples' work, he really has no right to speak there.
