cybertron contiuty questioned

Recommended Posts

the continuity errors come as a direct result of the dubbing company's laztyness. they decided to do a more accurate translation compared to their Energon translation, I think. they didn't realize that the only way to get Cybertron to flow properly into energon is to rewrite much of it...

As far as I am concerned, Galaxy Force was NOT meant to be a sequel. That explain why the TFs are so ignorant about Earth, humans and their customes. Hasbro "forced" it to be a "sequel".

The funny thing is that there are elements that fits with a possible sequel, the most significant being the black hole: that can be the effect of Unicron's explosion manifested several yaers later.

The only reason I think to justify some of the inconsistencies on Cybertron is that these characters are NOT the ones from Armada or Energon, but new characters that share name and has never being on Earth.

Other posibility is that they got reformated and lost all their previous memories. That can also explain the new forms. I am actually being sarcastic with this last comment but I want to foll myself in believing there is some sence behind the mayhem and run away from the brutal fact: TF shows are for kids and  therefore comon sense and continuity issues are optional (and rarely used)  :tfmad

i just dislike what hasbro has done in general to galaxy force, it's partialy the reason i use so many galaxy force names over their cybertron names.  there are some american names i just can't let go of (optimus prime) then some i go back and forth on (first aid/red alert), but for the most part my collection is dubbed by their galaxy force names.  it causes confusion with my friends tho, lol.  back on topic, hasbro Powerglideed alot of Blot up with cybertron imho.

I call my CD team by their American names, and their underforms (as little brothers since its confirmed that TFs can have brothers/sisters/mothers/fathers) by their GF names.  So Red alert's little brother is First Aid.  Hot Shot's is Exillion, and Scattorshot's is Backpack.  Also since I like Jackshot a little, whenever I make a reference to Leobreaker's underform and still have Overhaul as a separate character, I call him Jackshot.

Hey Buddykiller... remember 1998, when Takara was spelling "Cybertoron" and "Destoron"? *teehee*

All your Engrish are belong to us!

lol, thats rediculous, i wonder why ppl didn't go by what the packaging said then?  :thumb

actually thats not a bad idea actually, i have one friend that i've talked GF with enough so that he knows the basic names like Exillian, Dreadlock, ect... but when i start talking about Chromia, Noisemaze, Autovolt, ect he gets sooooo confused.  i'll prolly be completing my vangaurd team within the following weak, my wife is supposed to get me first gunner as an easter present and my grandpa just up and gave me $20 out of no where so i'm buying backgild with that.  i can't wait, i like the scattershot name tho so i think i'll be doing what you are with him, call the little one backpack and the vangaurd scattorshot that way i can leave out the whole cd part.

The actual quality or correctness of English words are not a high priority in Japan. They simply feel the appearance of English words are cool. They don't read from that anyways. The SCF teaser shots from Takara originally showed the characters with their names misspelled. Such as Garbatron and Comboy, Grimrock, etc.

i knew that, english is a fad in japan, at least imho.  i mean look at all the jpop and such that throw in an english word ever so often.  thats why i can't stand it when people argue "nuh uh, it's rabble and dreadrock kuz the package says so!"

Westerners do the same thing with Japanese and Chinese etc (e.g. tattoos). Things that are different have an exotic appeal.

The Hasbro version of Magmatron had packaging with Japanese text on it to give it an exotic appeal. Fortunately none of it is incorrect or anything, but most Western fans wouldn't know. The text could be saying "King Chicken Rooter" for all you know. Same goes with English text in Japan - the select few fans who understand English wouldn't care about it, but most others would see it as fancy looking foreign/exotic writing.

yea, you know theres gotta be a guy with a decal on his car or a tat on his shoulder that says "Todays Special: Fried Rice"

it's hilarious

They just forced it to much. I like to think of it as continuity, because it has such great ending. I do believe it would have been better if the only "returning characters"  were Optimus Prime, Jetfire, Red alert, Megaton, and Starscream.

They can be compared to their armada/energon selfs. Everyone else is to radically different. I am starting to think that it would do better if the treated more like an anime. Keep the original openining and closing. I bet cartoon network would give it "more respect", because anime is really popular  now, but I guess first and formost , our beloved show is a thirty minute toy commercial :roll

One last thing , why did they name Chromia ... Thunderblast :tfmad

Well no. Japanese language will use English words for when there is no Japanese translation. Or if the phrase in English is a feeling of sorts and again has no translation.
