Beast Wars character names

While it's true that the Japanese Headmasters' show models were more toy accurate, I don't agree that they were as toy accurate as Beast Wars. As for Operation Combination... that was a comic story, never a cartoon - so it's a moot issue.

At any rate - this doesn't change my original point, which was that the Beast Wars show models were based on the toys - toy accurate or otherwise.

I said Headmasters through Op. Combo wich includes masterforce Victory, Zone and Battlestars as well

Uh, that's not necessarily what a hyphen means when used in text (it's usually used in specific conjugations, e.g. "self-destruct" doesn't mean "self through to destruct") - anyhoo...

Although later G1 cartoon/comics saw great improvements in toy accuracy, I would still argue that Beast Wars had better toy accuracy - part of this reason is because the BW toys themselves weren't the blocky bricks that a lot of later G1 toys were.

IMHO there's far less underlying artistic changes between the toys and show in BW compared to later G1. Fundamentally speaking, most artistic/creative changes made to a lot of later G1 figures in the show and comics were done to compensate for a lot of the toy's cosmetic short-comings (e.g.: brick factor) - mostly to streamline the characters and make them more anthropomorphic and dynamic in poise. Compare toys like God Bomber, Star Sabre and Dai Atlas with their show/comic counterparts. On the other hand, this was done to a far lesser degree, and most visual modifications were made for largely aesthetic reasons.

But to make a fair comparison, if we make this comparison in context of when these respective toy lines were released, as well as the inherently different capabilities of cel vs CG animation, I would say that both later G1 and BW enjoyed a relatively equal level of toy accuracy in the show/comics.

Megatron's alligator toy came out in 1996, being the only rock blister toy to come out in 1996. There was no Megatron toy in 1995, when the other rock-blister toys came out.

No Megatron toy in 1995? What do you call this? megatron.gobot.jpg

That is not a Beast Wars toy.

You didn't specify, you just said "There was no Megatron toy in 1995", as we can see above.  :tftongue
