Rebirth. A flawed masterpiece :D

due to the fact that i was supposed to be five parts and there were a million new characters to introduce (which i know has been stated) is why it sucked. but with all its flaws, i loved it. and heres my reason. (keeping in mind i exclude hm and the rest)

it had resolution. to everything. the whole time i watched tf as a kid i never saw rebirth. first time i saw it was when the season 4 dvd set was released. i never knew g1 ended, i guess i never really questioned it. but it was over. the autobots won, had a new golden cybertron and... i cant really explain how i felt after that. it was odd. but i liked it.

That is an excellent observation.

I mean it was a very good ending. I think all good show should and at their peak other than draggin on for years. I can think of several shows/movie series that went on for far too long.

OMG I CAME UP WITH THAT OBSERVATION FIRST GAHHH I HATE THE FANDOM

uh anyway

Rebirth wasn't all that bad compared to the rest of G1 anyway. Perhaps I'm only saying this because I was unable to find a single G1 episode on my Season 2 DVDs that I wanted to watch last night, but dang. "The God Gambit"? "Child's Play"? "The Gambler"?

I liked Rebirth for providing not just an ending, but a story arc-completing ending to G1. The crisis set up in MTMTE had been resolved, it was over -- in a very final way. From a writer's standpoint I really like that a lot. Of course there were lame parts in it. But come on, the rest of the series is the same way. What do you expect?

Also (again, from a writer's standpoint) they did do a really good job of escalating the tension in the final episode. It was really well written in that regard IMO. Plus it was funny how they tried to sneak in Spike saying "crap for brains". :tflaugh

I liked seeing how the Autobots were holding off the Decepticons pretty well on Cybertron but as soon as Prime left for Nebulos they got decimated.

Which is all the more inexplicable considering how little he actually does.

He's like your country's flag, God or a photograph of your loved ones - doesn't actually do a damn thing but inspires you to do better to no end.

well he sure didn't save the TF franchise...

Here is the worst part. The intro to the series had great animation. What happened? It is the coolest intro ever! Well Grimlock eating the TF logo is kinda cool tho.

they used animation footage from the toy commercials. Notice the complete lack of any visual link between the shots.
