Excellion from Cybertron should be renamed Hot Rod... speaking of which, Rodimus (The G1 TRU reissue) should be renamed Hot Rod too!

My Alt Prime I called "Convoy" and made him an upstart badass. I was thinking of making him totally Emo too but Peter Parker beat me to it. Damn you SPIDERMAN!! ^_^

 

I rename toys constantly. I'm still working on names for my Conctructicon team but even Devastator (CL) I've named "OBLIVION".

 

when I have time I'll put up some pictures of my Airelbot team and Constructicon team with names.

My Alt Prime = Ginrai ;P Decepticharge should have been called Drag Strip.

A/E/C Red alert should have kept his Japanese name - "Ratchet" for A/E and "First Aid" for Cybertron. Or even Ratchet or First Aid for the entire trilogy - that way they could've also kept the name "First Gunner" instead of "Cybertron Defence Red alert" which is ridiculously long-ass name.

 

Lugnutz should've also kept his Japanese name (Roadstorm). I can't stand the whole "let's pluralise with a Z!"... looks stupid on "Bratz"... looked ghey on Skid-Z... gah!!

 

Armada Wheeljack should've kept his Japanese name (Rampage) because it totally suits him better, being the angry and spiteful bastard that he is - and that way Energon/Cybertron Downshift could be called Wheeljack, which is what he bloody looks like (and was so called in Japan for EN)!!

 

I also think that the Galaxy Force Convoys should've been called "Primes" in Cybertron.

e.g.:

Nitro Convoy (Override) = Velocitus Prime

Flame Convoy (Scourge) = Draconus Prime

Megalo Convoy (Metroplex) = Metropolis Prime

Live Convoy (EVAC) = Sentinel Prime (and that would've been a totally fan-fappable G1 reference too)

 

Scrapmetal should've kept his Japanese name of "Rumble" - and Hasbro could've spelt it correctly too (Takara mispelt it as "Ramble").

 

Runamuck should've been called Runabout (as he was in Japan).

 

Oh yeah, BW Buzzsaw should have been called "Bumblebee" (even if he's still a Predacon, after all, BW Inferno was a Predacon with an Autobot namesake) and K-9 should've been called "Hound."

 

As for inventing new names/personas for existing toys...

Fire SL Grand Convoy I call Prime Nova and SL Black Rodimus Convoy I call Harbinger. Prime Nova and Harbinger are able to Super Link together and form Rack N' Ruin.

Yellow Binaltech Tracks I call BT Road Rage

CD-ROM Convobat I call Hot Rodimus and Universe Optimus Primal is Rodimus Primal.

10th Anniversary reissue Waspinator I call Starscream (my own figure sports numerous stickers from MP Starscream)

Some Transformers figures lend themselves brilliantly to being renamed and reused as another character, even without repainting. Some examples in my collection are: Cybertron Landmine as Scoop, Cybertron Ransack as Ruckus teamed with Cybertron Overhaul (the green jeep) as Crankcase (the Autobot insignia removed), G1 Gunrunner innerbot as Emirate Xaaron (not perfect, but works until a Xaaron toy is finally made), Energon Inferno as Ironhide, Energon Snowcat as Onslaught and Cybertron delux Unicron as an excellant Bludgeon, the idea for him i got off someone on TFans.

 

Anyone else do this? Got other examples? And could any of the movie toys be renamed and reused?

funny you called Overhaul Crankcase and I always called him Brawn.

Yeah I immediately thought of Brawn when i bought Overhaul, but he's too small compared to classics Bumblebee and he goes very well with Ransack/Ruckus. I'd like a new Brawn to be big.

 

Of course there are some more very obvious reuses which are just ment to be, Engergon Megatron as Galvatron and Energon Downshift as Wheeljack. Why not just call him Wheeljack and be done with it!

Well, to further expand my list of renamed TFs in Galzamus Universe..

 

Armada Airrazor I call Deathwing .. decepticon because of color and the con logo on her back. Brooding, dark.. yeah, cliche.

Armada Cheetor as Jackal .. con because of color .. reminds me of a theif sort of character.

Armada Terrorsaur as Blight because of funky colors .. looks like he's packing away some pretty serious chemicals somewhere.

Fox Kids TM Rhinox as Icebreaker because of the color (again) .. and the Snowmobile Vehicle Mode helps.

Universe Perceptor (the one that came with Sunstorm) I dubbed 'Streetsmart' .. his individual parts, Highwire = Oneway, Sureshock = Switch, and Grindor = Crisscross

Universe "Inferno" I call Red alert for obivious reasons.

Universe Inferno -the minicon- (again, with Sunstorm) I call Sunstroke

Universe Prowl (the minicon) I call Treadburn

Universe Terradive I call Whitebird (female because I can, damnit)

 

I still need to come up with some names for my other Fox Kids BW Guys.. but this is about all I got for now.
