I hate Snipers

Recommended Posts

Actually, I'm surprised that eBay doesn't adapt the closing time to keep the auction open for a little while longer if there are last second bids.

For instance: if there is a bid in the last five minutes the auction stays open five minutes longer, than if there is a big in the last four minutes it stays open for another four minutes, 3/2/1 etc., until finally the auction has to remain open for a full minute with no further bids - essentially making the auction behave more like a live auction, with a "going, going... gone" period.

Such a tactic would drive up the prices of heavily sniped auction items - which makes more money for eBay.

Ok, ok. After I cooled down from my little temper tantrum last night I read everyone posts and opinions. I did not mean to offend anyone I was just heated over the fact that I lost out on a couple of sweet auctions. BUT, for the most part some of you are right. It comes down to whoever is willing to pay the highest bid. I did not mean to insinuate that sniping is ethically wrong however annoying it may be to the person of the other side of it.

Alpha I apologize if I sounded curt in my reply to you.

I just miss the good ol' days when you could get a really sweet deal on something on eBay without having to resort to sniping.

I guess all is fair in love, war and transformer collecting.

Hey Slagatron, I just wanted to know that I understand your position. Feel free to rant, it always makes me feel better and if it makes you feel better than I figure it is worth it.

Since I live in Europe with a lot of Cybertron and other figures never being released here, I have to go to eBay or an online store.

I know it is legal to snipe but when one has had a bid for a whole week, to lose it in the last few minutes really sucks. I too used the technique on a lot of occasions and at times feel bad because you are "taking" an item from someone. At least that is how I feel them.

With these snipe programmes I think the "war" could even go further. Though I am not sure what would happen if more sellers used them.

I guess then the highest bidder would win and it boils down who is willing to pay the most. It is always sad to lose out on a sweet deal, I know. Lost several myself but I have grown to accept I cannot win them all. Sadly.

I even got over being sniped on an auction for Overlord. Man was I pissed them. It was also a bit my own fault. I wanted to bid more but I was sniping someone else and then I got sniped.

I guess I got what was coming to me.  :tflaugh

Did win Cybertron Starscream last week for $55 plus shipping. The starting bid was $50 but for that extra $5.00 I did not want to risk losing the auction.

At those time I love eBay.  :thumb

dude, you're being a straight shooter andf i respect that. its your opinion and your entitled to it. i dodn't take any offence, but thanks for the pm. if you can beat'em join'em. And yeah there's been a lot of people i've sniped out,......especialy this one guy. I guess he doesn't have to worry about me for a while though. as i'm broke. so for now you'r all safe,.....from me at least ......MWAhahahahhahaha!

i need a bette job.

What I hate is morons who see an item they want and are like OMG I HAVE TO BID ON IT NOW EVEN THOUGH THERE'S FIVE DAYS LEFT IN THE AUCTION BECAUSE THAT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I OWN IT. All you need is two retards thinking the same thing and you're into a bidding war for no reason.

Anyway, you only get sniped if you don't think ahead enough to keep your max bid snipe-proof. If there's 10 minutes to go on an auction and it's at $50 and your max bid is $51, then you're gonna lose it.

I would bid on it because I would have too much on my watch list. :redface

*doesn't know what sniping is*

It means bidding at last minute/few seconds.

*is proud sniper* even though I've only gotten two things from ebay. :redface

I am still on dialup so I wouldn't be a good sniper even if i tried.

heh, *proud to be a sniper*

You snipe?!?! But aren't you the guy that's asking people for a free Bumblebee because your parent won't let you pay online? If you're sniping and you're not paying, then, yeah, I have something against THOSE types of snipers. Sniping is not "wrong" or "right," but if you're doing it so that other people have to pay more, then you, sir, suck.
