you know, i just don't understand this line of thought. some one makes one comment about japan that some one else doesn't agree with and instead of trying to refute the first posters argument, the second poster just attacks them with comments about how "they've never been to japan" and how they "can't possibly have any knowledge about how japan works".

are you going to provide any evidense that proves me wrong or are you just going to attack my credibillity?

Zoids, Super Sentai Mecha, Evangelians, and some Gundams are sentiant.

And to bigds9fan G1 quite frankly sucked, it was decent for its time(Robotech was better imho) but it dosn't hold a candle to resent Cartoons.

But, Japan never got Robotech :tfevil

But I do think that even G1 is better than some of the cartoons shoveled onto kids these days (Robotech was a rewritten mess that doesn't hold a candle to its core Japanese series, Macross)

And all through this thread, I've yet to see a legitimate reason for Takara and Hasbro to cease working together.

The line of thought is that you're making a blanket generalization about what the Japanese prefer in terms of mechs and robots, and he wants to know what information is leading you to make that assessment. Sales figures, a survey, brand longevity, etc...? I think he was actually asking a valid question (albeit in a somewhat sarcastic tone).

If you said that the Japanese preferred to eat with utensils instead of chopsticks, I'd be first inclined to ask you why you believed that to be true instead of researching the matter just to disprove you.

I dont get the 1st poster 2nd poster thing, you refering to me? attacks? who's attacking anyone here? its a discussion for crying out loud! Well, im not saying you are wrong, neither am i attacking your credibility. But if you are asking me for evidence that proves you right, at least substantiate the 4 following assumptions you've made in your 1st post:

Transformers just aren't doing very well in japan
the japanese prefer their giant mecha to be piloted by humans
they just don't like the idea of giant sentient mecha at all.
if hasbro continues to push takara into making tf's.

if not, i could also just announce "Fembots are the next in thing in robots! After Galaxy Force, Takara will push for a all-fembot series that features sexy bikini-clad robots that turns into cool vehicles!" or some what to that extent, even though that fembot example is a little extreme :tfevil

If I remeber Correctly Transformers is one of the only lines that is keeping Takara Afloat. For that reason takara said they are ramping up production on their Transformers lines specifically the fan fav ones (I.E. Binaltech and MP). I think this was an article from TFormers.com, it came out before Us Toyfare, when the rumors suyrronding the Dodge Ram pick-up and the Seeker jets as a larger scale Alt Line.

And to bigds9fan G1 quite frankly sucked, it was decent for its time(Robotech was better imho) but it dosn't hold a candle to resent Cartoons.

To most Transformers fans that is sacriledge. :tftongue

G1 did not suck, it was the first Transformers series ever and therefor it will always have a special place in my heart despite its flaws.

Sure the stories could have been better at times and the animation was often poor but it was a show made for kids during a time when cartoons were only watched by kids.

And G1 is better than a lot of recent cartoons I have seen. Yu-Gi-Oh is the WORST crap I have ever seen. That Blot only revolves around that stupid card game. :tfpuke Beyblade is :tfpuke too.

The only recent shows I find tolerable are Medabots and (strangely enough) Shin Chan. The rest I do not even bother to watch. One would think that nowadays people can make better cartoons but the writing for Armada and Energon was pretty poor. Too many plotholes which reminded me of G1.

Which was just fine then, as I did not care then. But now I do and all plotholes in Armada and Energon are bugging me. The writers could have done a lot better.

But hey, it is not as bad a Yu-Gi-Oh. (Though that would be near impossible to accomplish.)

"Fembots are the next in thing in robots! After Galaxy Force, Takara will push for a all-fembot series that features sexy bikini-clad robots that turns into cool vehicles!"

Sweet!

Sign me up.

;)

At least Beyblade and Yug-hi-oh have Consistant animation/storylines and Plot arcs. Even if the Contex sucks(cards and tops :wtf) they are still supierior to 80's cartoons. Take of the Nostagla glasses.
