just one more point i want to add to my original comment...

maybe someone here see's it diffrently, but i want to know your guys opinion on this one....what would make you want to buy a figure of a character more? a 30 min long commercial OR a story that gets you so into it and hooked that you want to buy the toys to make your own "fanfics" i know it seems like i said this before and its kinda drifting from where the topic is now, but i just dont understand the logic

ps - i agree that if they are to have humans have them as adults who can take care of themselves and not whinny little $h!ts that get into trouble and need rescuing all the time

Do not watch Japanese cartoons outside of Medabots and the new Transformers series.

So I could possibly not answer your question. But when it comes to Transformers, the Japanese seem to want them as simple as possible and have the humans play a really large part.

That is why Energon could also have been called "The Amazing Adventures Of Kicker Featuring The Transformers." :tftongue

By the way, thanks for letting me know the smaller figures for the Brainmasters are sentient robots. Thought as much but one can never be certain.

I think what Hornet is suggesting is that the toys essentially remain the same for both companies, but Takara's will come with little Micromen pilots.

This would mean that both would need two different cartoons. Takara's has TF's as mindless robots piloted by human characters who would essentially be the stars of the show. Hasbro would need a different one where the TF's are sentient and the main characters.

that's exactly what i'm saying. maybe split was too harsh a word but maybe each company could do their own cartoon while the toys would be ambigious enough to be either human piloted or sentient.

Who the heck is hastak??

Hasbro + Takara = HasTak or TakBro or TakHas or Haskara...

Any of them will suffice, but HasTak is the most commonly-used one.

Thx DM, I prefer callin them Haskara~~~ :tftongue :mwahaha :mwahaha :pfx

That's a pretty good idea. Of course, then you'll have hordes of Japanese version fans arguing with the North American version fans over which is better, but that happens even now anyways.

The major reason I think that would be a good idea is simply cost. If Hasbro/Takara didn't share the cost of designing and producing Transformers, it'd be the consumer that'd pick up the slack.

they have kinda done this in the past....Season 2 and 3 of Beast Wars was Beast Wars Metal in Japan...and from my understanding it was a different series

They skiped BM and shoved season 2+3 together to make room for BWII and BW-Neo

Maybe if they did do human pilots in Japan, they could be repainted and released as the human characters we all know and love in TF.

but i want to know your guys opinion on this one....what would make you want to buy a figure of a character more? a 30 min long commercial OR a story that gets you so into it and hooked that you want to buy the toys to make your own "fanfics"

Obviously an engrossing story beats out a 30 minute commercial any day to us, but the mainline cartoon is meant to capture the imaginations of children, while spending as little as possible on production. Hence the poor writing, dubs, etc...The shows needs to not be a poor import but needs to originate here for it to be good again. Maybe Cybertron will prove me wrong.

Hopefully but I remain cautious.

The Japanese cartoons have never been able to match up with G1, let alone Beast Machines or Beast Wars. They are not bad but they are c grade material at best. Though Robots In Disguise would get a C+.

Transformers are a US creation for Japanese toys and I think they should stay that way. And the diaclone Transformers all had seats for humans so it is possible to do that again.

Let the Japanese do the toys and the US the cartoon. Equal partnership. The new movie is made in the US so why not the cartoons? A cartoon like Beast Wars would please everyone as it has everything. (Except humans but no one wants those.)
