Are there Fans here that Actually can't live without G2 color repaints???

Recommended Posts

G2 was sort of the bastard child of the transformers world that meant the beginning of the end...it was a time of these horrible bright neon colors on classic toys, shell pretenders, non transforming robots that rode on things, and more horrible bright pinks and oranges and neon green and blues. It was a quickly dying fad that vanished quickly before Beast Wars came out. Hasbros other star line at the time, GI Joe, had the neon phase as well but we don't see them going back to their brightly colored roots. So why all of the hype for G2 all of the sudden?

I would have thought that G2 would be one of those things that EVERY FAN would try and pretend never happened.

Pretenders and Action Masters weren't G2. :P They're pretty well seated in G1.

That said, I kind of think this topic is blowing things out of proportion. Given that these toys are just a limited Botcon release, it's not like fans are clamoring Hasbro to do mass-market releases of all things G2.

I can live without any G2 repaints.

However, I'm not going to deny(or buy) the quirkyness of this years theme. It's an amuzing out of the blue throwback, and I'm pretty much getting a kick out of it.

So not for nothing, don't get your panties in a bunch, it's only BC stuff and not mass release. Enjoy it or ignore it.

Most people remember the 90's for the grunge look and rappers in baggy black suits. Truth of the matter is tough, the new wave look was more prominent then in odd styles, colors, and trends then the 80's.

I know, I lived both. The early 90's was a dayglo mess, and people loved it!

Also, the pretenders and action masters, those were still G1.

:agree

Liege nailed it right there, I'm having fun making fun of the G2 theme this year and looking at the box set sell for a lot less on eBay then what people paid for them. So those that bought the box set and put it on eBay are losing money. The only decent ones are the sharkticons, and they are not G2.

And Liege is right. The Pretenders and Actionmasters are G1. The Actionmasters were the end of the G1 line.

I liked G2 because it went back and homaged the first 3 years of G1, plus some new cool molds. Much more fun than many of the items from the later years of G1. What it lacked was a good TV series. The Marvel comic run was short and confusing, and the "Cybernetic Space Cube" edits of G1 reruns were annoying to me at the time.

I just want more Seekers. The others I can do with out.

TCC G2 Ramjet is just what I wanted.

My enjoyment of G2 depends on the bots themselves. There are a few that look so bizzare with their colors that I really like them. This year had a few of those like Breakdown and Spark (i think that was his name). Overall the painton this year's exclusives was actually very faithful to the G2 homage. I could do without Double Punch tho, he doesnt look that great.

And Shattered Glass Ravage is awesome, while hes not G2 he still came with the rest of them.

And Scorch! That guy was the best!

Wheres Hooligan?

I don't remember the toys very well. They were crazy gaudy, but like Liege said, it's kind of cool that Botcon did that...another way to use the Classics mold which is never a bad thing.

I tried watching the G2 cartoon where they did all that dumb computer stuff for cutting between scenes and it just about made me motion sick. So dumb.

I like G2 Sideswipe, not crazy about G2 Jazz or Inferno, but being a G1 car NUT and wanting all the variants, G2 Sideswipe is pretty great. Good for custom parts too.

Love the classics line, made a catalog of all the possible variants they could make, I'd make or buy them all if I could.

Was very happy to find WST G2 variant jets on Ebay and Prime's trailer.

Wonders what G2 Ultra Magnus would be like...

Want the HOund repaint and the Skybite but thats aboot it..
