Video Reviews - N.E.S.T. Ratchet, Brawn, Lockdown, Skystalker

Recommended Posts

How do you link the video dirrect? The embeded code wasn't working for me.

I believe Mr. Steve has taken care of that for you on the main page.

Anyway, my impressions:

Skystalker- Scouts by far have been some of the most amazing figures of the entire line and this one is no different. Peaugh was right about his axes too, you can't tell they're part of the wing at all.

Lockdown- I can overlook the poppy bits, easily fixable with some nail polish. I never picked up Animated Lockdown, so this one will be on my list.

Brawn- A bit of a letdown, I must say. He was going to be my front-runner up until now. I may still get him regardless, but it's a bit of a disappointment to see the shellformer-ness of it.

Ratchet- Interesting, but it still doesn't work for me. Pass.

Yeah, he'll do that :lol

Something I'd like to see is Skystalker in comparison with some of the other scouts.

The TF2 scouts are awesome, but even for scouts they fall on the small side.

This figure looks pretty big though for that class, and I just wonder how he'll meassure up?

Never been a big fan of peaugh's reviews: too much describtion of the transformation process and too little description )or comparison) of the alt and robot mode. (I usually fast forward through the transformation because I want to find out that part for myself.

"Please Peaugh...if you are reading this do NOT change anything, your transformers reviews are the best period!"

It really is nice to see the details of the transformations because most reviewers miss a few tiny details that Peaugh captures in his reviews, and if does miss something, he always does an update.

And comparisons??? what is there to compare? Oh there is more yellow than in car mode...I can see that! I don't need someone to tell me that one. Oh I know size comparison?!? OH HELL FRAKK NO!!!!!! There are a TON of reviewers that love to do that crap...oh gaaaawwwwddd, that shite is so frakking boring! 5 long minutes for size comparison in the alt-mode then 5 more boring minutes for the bot mode just after trasnformation.

The anatomy of a perfect transformers video review:

Show me the car or plane or animal, if it has features or cool gimmicks show me that...then transform, then show me bot gimmicks, articulation, poses ect... tell me what you think (cos it is a review) closing statement and we are done!

Peaugh does everything that i have stated perfectly. He gets to the point, does not waste your time and he is never boring. Great job to Peaugh, do not change a thing!

In case anyone is wondering, the one thing I find to be more obnoxious in a transformers review then stating the obvious color change/not change from alt mode to figure is: size comparisons...I really HATE size comparisons.

Now that I got that off of my chest as far as the figures, Lockdown is the first transformers character I actually liked not just for the car and bot but also for the character development. This i such a wonderful homage to the "Main Man" LoBo. I was so disappointed when I got the Animated figure and the plastic on that toy was so poor, a shoulder snapped and back to walmart lockdown went. That was the last animated toy I ever bought. So many more cool animated toys would come out but the "lockdown experience" jaded me from ever purchasing another toy from the animated toy line. So now we are treated to the realistic Bayformer style version of Lockdown, and I couldn't be happier. The only thing, the only gripe i have on the new figure is that it's engine does not have a spring loaded gun barrels that pop out. That's what made the whole look of the original figure and that of the character of the figure. Yeah, you can get the cannon from ratchet but it's not the same. I really liked the fact that the engine on the original transformed into a weapon, not just got moved to the arm and it's like "just pretend the blower is the barrel". Everything else about lockdown looks brilliant, can't wait to see it, get it and so on. Would love to see a Human Alliance version of this.

Next up is Skystalker! Wow this was a surprise, I am looking more forward to this figure than any other. What a great design for the Predator drone. Great job. I like how the drone theme is kept in bot form. One can really imagine US Air Force going in this direction. Anyhow, like all of the other scouts, this is no different, great quality, transformation and articulation. This movie line of scouts has been the best scout class ever in the transformers branding and Skystalker looks to prove it. I can't wait to see this new figure on my shelf.

The other two, figures; ratchet and brawn i won't even bother writing anything on...I didn't care for them before and after Peaughs reviews, i care for them even less. Anyhow thanks Peaugh for these great reviews!

See I'm all over ratchet and brawn. Brawn, because he's a character not currently on my shelves and I really like that vehicle mode. Ratchet is a bit kibbly, but I do feel he captures the cgi model slightly better (skinnier limbs, more accurate shoulders, and I love the pull down bumper bit. But I'm a ratchet fanboy anyways, I'll get any ratchet they make. Lockdown for sure, I missed out during animated. I almost bought an animated one last time i was shopping, glad I had the willpower to hold off. Skystalker doesn't do much for me alone, but the interaction with mindwipe means hes as good as bought.

I really wasn't planning on getting anymore movie figs, particularly the non-movie ROTF characters. However, I've gotta say that Skystalker looks pretty damn sweet! I can already see a mod of this one, perhaps replacing the head with one that contains an actual 'face' instead of the 'clone' one.

Can I have the head if your not gonna use it :D

Lockdown looks cool, but sucks he pops off all over. I FRIGGIN HATE that shit! My :animated Lockdown doesn't do that. Hopefully its just his figure. Sometimes if you transform a figure wrong once, it will end up doing that. Hence, Universe Prowl. His doors like to pop off during transformation. By the time i got Streak, i had the transformation down so they dont do that cuz i didn't put stress on them.

Ratchet looks cool as hell! Small, but cool as hell. I will get him when chance arises.

Brawn looks better then the pics IMO. Although i think his knees are transformed wrong here, maybe other things too, but that im not sure of. I DO like this figure, and before i didn't know.

Skystalker. Hmmmm what to say about this figure other then pure adultrated AWESOME! I love this little guy. I would probably position his wings up to make him appear more bat like, but he looks good anyway. GREAAAAT FIGURE@!!!!! I even like the combined mode. ALthough i would say its more of a docking bay for the drones up on Mindwipe.

Wow, you have alot to say. But lets start here, there isn't ONE video i have seen with FIVE minutes of size comparisons. And as Leige said above, he wants to see how this scout stacks up. In point, some ppl want them, as Peaugh even does these. So your kinda contradicting. Still no worries.

Peaugh actually really doesnt go over articualtion. Not well anyway. Hes not big on it, and usually forgets it and never updates that. Or poses. THESE are things i find disturbing about the awesome that is peaugh. I like his reviews, but i wish he could show that more.

Peaugh is FAR from perfect. I enjoy his reviews but i will list a few things that "I believe" he has issues with. Some ppl call him "King POP OFF" ... and in my experience a figure doesn't have a poping off joint unless you transform him slightly wrong first. Like not following instructions to a T, or not being extremely carefull to learn the correct transfomation at first try. So with all the figures poping off joints, it gives them a bad name imo. NONE of my figures do that (other then a few i messed up on transformation at first like Universe Prowl, dialed his transformation but by the time Streak came out, no prob. If none of mine do, im not sure why all his do other then this reason. *this is a good point you can't argue there*

Peaugh does everything that i have stated perfectly. He gets to the point, does not waste your time and he is never boring. Great job to Peaugh, do not change a thing!

Agreed with the bold highlight. ;)

WOAH! My Lockdown is tough as nails. Hasn't "popped" off, or fallen apart, or broken, and isn't loose. Actually ALL my :animated figures are top notch. Just saying its a shame you judge a whole line on one single figure that isn't as bad as you got him in general. And yeah, the blower transform to weapon "spring out" is awesome!

I was just thinking. A movie Oil Slick would be pretty bad ass too.

I love the bike, the robot is 80% there, but the materials they used where horrible.

I know it won't happen, but it would be cool for Lockdown to have some company :mwahaha

I saw a retool of Buzzsaw / Lazerbeak to go with a Soundwave repaint of Mindwipe. :schin

Outta left field here....watching the transformation of Skystalker. For some reason i got a G1 insecticon vibe. I could see him repainted as Ransack. Call me crazy but when he split the back end in two i thought of him. Am i crazy? you can tell me.

I will probably get Skystalker if I find a Mindwipe first.

I like Brawn and will definitely pick that one up.

Lockdown since he isn't Animated looking has peaked my curiosity. It depends on when I see him in my hand. He does seem like a cool figure.

Ratchet is a pass. This review helped make my decision. I may pick up a loose one later, as I do like the weapon port, but overall I don't really care much for the Movie Ratchet figure. Deluxe or Voyager class.

I'm still looking for that Scout Class Breakdown! :argh

I finally found and picked up a Bludgeon today at WalMart and hopefully be getting Recon Strike Ironhide. Gift cards getting put to good use! :)

Thanks for the links and thanks for the reviews! I appreciate the comparision size of the figures and alt mode. Keep them coming!

Ratchet doesn't look good in this version.. Brawn looks more attractive
