Are Masterpiece figures overpriced for what they are?

Second, I've seen alot of stop motion using MP Prime, this is the first to use MP Megarton. I believe the frailty is the reason why

:rofl :rofl :rofl Just put me on to something new. Those Megatron and Optimus cereal commercial out takes are hilarious.

$50 to $60 is OK. But over $100 is too high. I bought MP Grimmy but sold him once I knew he was going to be available in the states.

These masterpiece figures are not worth the price we pay. MP Prime was worth it, it was well worth it. The rest of them have been pretty crappy. Last night I was transforming my Takara MP Starscream and I found a crack on one of the hinges on the left wing. WTF, I hardly bring it out of it's box and there is a crack in the wing hinge? The plastic is crappy and at that point it's too thin so I can see why it cracked.

No, these things are not worth $60+ dollars. Prime was very much worth the $80+ I paid for it but should have been originally released with a trailer.

Your definately paying for NAME at this point. Your also paying for DETAILING.

but truth is, imho, the MP line is made more for display than playing with. Just like the Binaltech lines vs the Alternators. The BT's, again imho, are made more so for display. The ALT's are made for constant use/abuse and transformations.

I think the price is justified. If anything, Masterpiece figures achieve more for less money than comparable Macross, SOC or CM's figures.

Mine is open, transformed twice. He stands oposite Prime in the display case.

The 2 times I changed him I could have sworn the whole body was going to come apart. With kid gloves and luck it didn't. The whole thing wobbles any time I touch the shelf.

Megatron to me is a supreme Titanium figure less most of the titanium.

I like that they made him, I love that he's a gun, I just hate the fact that he's so increadably thin and frail. I'm sure that with more time they could have given him better stronger joints, and really don't know why they didn't use a stronger plastic?

I honestly would like to get 2 more. 1 for gun mode so I can enjoy that too without the fear. Another to keep MSIB for prosperity in case the other 2 fail.

Again, this is a great figure, but when compaired to Prime, it is not a "Masterpiece" Far from it.

That's what I ended up doing: getting one MP Megs to stay unopened in the box, one to stay in gun mode and one to display in base mode. For all the talk about the fragility of the MP line in general (And Megs in particular), my six-year old regularly plays with my MP Prime, Screamer, Grimlock and Megs, and they have all survived to tell the tale. Prime and Grimlock are really durable, especially Prime. I could probably fight the War on Terror with his MP figure and come out the only survivor.

Granted, while I do somewhat wish they had compromised the alt mode somehow to make the base mode better (ala MP Prime), I am pleased with MP Megs overall. He is the ugliest girl at the MP dance, but hey: in either mode, he displays very well, even if arm and waist articulation was sacrificed.

The MP figures overall are, IMO, more than worth the price point, and that includes MP Grimlock. The figures are absolute works of art, and deserve a price point that reflects that. MP Prime/Magnus and Grimlock are, for all intents and purposes, PERFECT. Hasbro Screamer comes close to it (with a practically perfect bot mode and the best jet mode I've ever seen on a TF), and the only Megatron figures that even begin to approach MP Megs are (in this order): Animated Leader Megs and the ROTF Voyager, and they still fall fairly far behind.

Over here, I paid about $60 for MP Skywarp (Hasbro version), which is exactly $1 more than a ROTF Leader Class figure. While I was somewhat hesitant to pay $59 for ROTF Leader Prime, $60 for Skywarp is an absolute STEAL.

Now I'm really cursing myself for not being able to buy MP Prime (the version with the talking stand) when it was available...:(

I went to repossition mine yesterday and noticed he has a heavy slouch to the left due to the gun arm. I can't get him to stand right. Anyone else have this problem?
