What encore re-issues would you like to see?

Recommended Posts

Yeah do more combiners. They were a huge part of G1 and so few ever get any love.

Plus that would save me a fortune!

I like the bases, and have most of them complete. For those who don't though, I want them to finish reissueing them.

Other negelected figures I'd like to see return are the Clones. Great concept that get's no love. Punch/Counterpunch too is some one who needs a revival too.

I can keep going but I'm on a trip. New collectors, you gotta understand, the figures where basicly bricks, but there was so much diversity in the figures that you didn't even notice. None of this one single gimmick crap, it was literaly anything goes all under one umbrella with alot less repaints then you'd think.

SHOCKWAVE :con :con :con

Dammit.

SHOCKWAVE :con :con :con

Dammit.

I'll take some of that action

The problem with Shockwave is that he wasn't a Takara mould, so it depends on whether or not TOMY has managed to acquire the rights to that mould or not. TOMY had previously acquired Toybox, the company that made Mechabot-1 and the pre-TF for Sky Lynx, hence why TakaraTOMY were able to reissue Omega Supreme and Sky Lynx. :/

New collectors should also look at G1 and G2 toys in the context of when they were released. Sure, there were some pretty crappy toys from that era (e.g.: Battlechargers, 1988 Pretenders, G2 Powermasters, Firecons -- G2 Firecons (Sparkabots) etc.), but on the whole most G1 & G2 toys were _really_ well made for their time. And remember that the first Transformers with fully articulated robot modes came from late G2 (e.g.: Hero leaders, Laser Rods, Cyberjets etc.)

I doubt many people, in 1984, looked at toys like Optimus Prime, Jazz, Soundwave etc. and thought, "Geez these are crap toys." For its time they were freakin' SWEET toys! Transformers grossed something like US$1.4 million by the end of 1984 making it the single most successful debut toy line!

Transformers has endured consecutively (there's never been a year where Transformers hasn't been in production) for a quarter century because the toys are, on the whole, remarkably well made. Here's my video tribute to 25 Years of Transformers. :)

Hell yeah, I recall the first time I held Optimus and freaked! He had knees that could bend!!!

We've come a long way (and thank god for that), but there's something to be said for knowing the roots.

That isn't a knock on new collectors, it's a sugestion. Get past looking at it as GEEWUN, and take it as G1. There is so much more then Seeker repaints, and poor articulation (hell in 84 we didn't even know what that was, see how things have both developed as well as faultered and it will give you a new apreciation of TRANSFORMERS.

Think of it like vintage cars. Sure a Galaxy 500 may have nothing on a 7 Series BMW, but all that sofistication will never give you the same satisfacion you feel just watching one rumble down the road, let alone the power that comes from shifting gears in the hard leather seat of one!

Knowing the start just adds a whole new level of apreciation to the development of Transformers as a whole. It just makes everything better :mwahaha

Given this info on Shockwave (thanks) and knowing in my heart that Takara rules my world, I'm needing some speculative advice.

Does anyone think a reissue Shockwave would be made anytime in the near future, or should someone who wants one REAL BAD just fold for an original or the KO version ???

I know we can't tell the future, but some of you old school fans might know a pattern on how long this will take. Or has already :(

OK, I'm trying to shop for myself for X-Mas and want a big purple gun in my stocking !!! :lol

Shockwave isn't likely to be reissued. The rights to the figure are spread all over the board.

He is a great figure though and you really should have one. I don't support KOs so I say vintage. If your on a budget, I would recommend buying the figure and the barrel seperate to save some money, or go with Shackwave.

Yeah, a reissue seems unlikely. Go with an original G1. If you can't afford it, just save up your money until you can! :)

has predaking been re-issued? if so id like them to do it again, thats my TFormers grail peice!
