Now in poll form, by request. Guess which one I voted for lol :D

Okay, I've been trying to get in here to post my opinion on this all day because I finally saw it last night and this is what I have to say...

If seeing people "Explode/vaporize" and a couple other "gross-out" moments don't bother you...

And you don't have a problem with the "F-bomb" (which was in the film a lot, but they had such heavy accents that it sounded like they were saying "forkin'" so it didn't bother me oddly enough)...

There is no reason that you shouldn't go see this film; it was 7-10 bucks I was glad to spend and may spend yet again.

The only two complaints that were leveled at it by ONE of the 4 folks in my party were:

1) A lack of Comic relief. Actually I didn't think it was a problem at all; there are some very funny moments but they are played very seriously, so it doesn't feel like a "Comic Relief" moment, but so long as you keep your mind open you might be able to appreciate them. (For instance, I thought that the substance that many of the aliens are addicted to was just plain hilarious, though not in a laugh-out-loud way)

2) (Not a straight up spoiler, but it kind of sounds like one...):

The ending. The fourth guy was a little disappointed, but personally I found it to be very... appropriate.

that said it isn't as bad as that makes it sound.

I personally think it was... just right for what it was trying to be and what it was trying to do. :thumb :thumb

I laughed a few times about the alien's addiction and

the candy incident

. Now that I have a job I want to go see it again, its worthy of the big screen.

Exploding meat sacks FTW!!!

:tfevil

Loved the

candy

scene. :lol

I can't wait till D9 is released to DVD/Blu-Ray.

I'm sure that the floating ship had a redundant system that had nothing to do with the fluid that Christopher had gathered. The fluid was probably something more powerful that is used to make the ship travel at light speed or some such thing.

I saw it last Friday. Sorry, guys, but believe it or not, I was VERY disappointed. As far as I could tell, it had a lot of the same problems other people complain about RotF having, aside from crude humor. I'll type everything in spoiler tags...

First, it was really boring for me most of the time. I thought it was finally going to pick up when they were about to disect the main human, but then it slowed down again until the raid on the hq to get back the fluid.

The whole time they were just sitting their explaining stuff to start the movie wasn't very interesting to me. And then once we get to see a lot of the aliens, during the evictions, I found that to be monotonous (sp).

Second, there have been complaints about the Transformer movies being shaky during battles scenes. This movie was worse imo. I think the whole news coverage/interview/handheld camera/etc. effect is being overused.

Finally, it's not the smart movie everyone's saying it is. I actually thought it was pretty dumb.

We millions of aliens with these super-powered weapons and the ability to travel through space, yet they let themselves get stuck in those rundown shacks? Perhaps they were too peaceful, but then what else would they use all the weapons for?

There was a line where someone said the aliens had a hard time getting organized without a leader. Well, Christopher Johnson seemed bright enough to lead them. Heck, his kid was smart enough to operate their spaceship. Yet he only had one other alien who he was able to get to help him early on? He and Wickus invaded the hq by themselves, they should have been able to round up an army!

It took Christopher 20 years to make the fluid, yet their ship had a power source to keep it floating in the air all that time? Weren't there any humans worried that at some point it would come crashing down? If the aliens wouldn't have stupidly given up their weapons and instead tried to communicate with the humans, they could have probably fixed the ship a lot easier. And they would have been able to live in better conditions in the meantime.

The fluid that powers the ship also just happens to turn other species into there's? And you could tell Christopher knew about that effect when he talked to Wickus after seeing his arm, so it must have happened before. That seems like a real stretch to me just to put the movie together.

When they were about to disect Wickus, why didn't they use stronger restraints? After studying the aliens for all those years you'd think they'd have some idea of how strong they can get and prepare for it.

The end scene was fun, but overall I liked RotF, GI Joe, and Star Trek MUCH better.

Blasphemy :P but seriously no to each is own. :)

Speaking of which I saw ROTF again ( someone else was paying) I don't know but for some reason ROTF seemed worse than the last time I saw it. :shrug Devs still looks good on the big screen though. :thumb Just hoped that him like the rest of bots were more involved in the movie, but alas they were pushed aside for bad acting, crude juvenile humor, military randomness, and explosions. :emo

Maybe inglorious bastards will cheer me up. :schin

Who voted other? I'd like to know what other Sci-Fi movie was released this year that trumps D9, ROTF or Star Trek. I cant even think of another Sci-Fi movie from this year.

ROTF and D9 are two very different movies, it would be hard for me to compare them to pick the better one. I enjoyed both a lot, but i know exactly where ROTF was headed bec. I had sought out advanced info, spoilers, etc. Not knowing D9's ending, or even it's direction from the beginning, gave it a lot of impact. It was also a story with more real-life relevance- immigration laws, S. African apartheid, etc. ROTF was just a shoot-em-up, but a fun one.

I nearly had to walk out halfway thru, I was getting nauseous from the shaky-cam work. :puke I wish there'd be an edited DVD release that has steadier imagery.

Great story, it was so surreal when they were trying to

serve the eviction notices

. The one alien smacks the clipboard out of Wikus' hand, and Wikus says some thing like, OK that counts as his signature. LOL. Wikus was so tragic- here's this desk jockey suddenly thrown headlong into this situation. Even as he discussed it at the beginning, you could see how nervous he was. He seemed to be the type that masks his unease with nervous laughter and humor. The very final scene

where we learn his fate

was a great twist.

The alien Christopher Johnson realyl had development; he too was suddenly thrust into a leadership role he did not want, but he did it for his boy. That little kid was so cute,

I'm glad he and his dad survived

.

I wonder if they could make a sequel that wouldn't suck? Sometimes a sequel just shouldn't be made, this might be one of those.

And regarding a Bonecrusher MNU truck repaint, that would rock hard. BC would hate dealing with the prawns, but he'd get it done in no time.

I think they could make a sequel that wouldn't suck. Just don't let it go out of hand. We don't need a trilogy or a prequel. Just a sequel to finish off the story and tie up all the loose ends, and Ill be happy. Dare I say I could accept a comic prequel though.

Im willing to bet that the reason they came to Earth all stupid and malnourished is because they were on the run from some OTHER badass alien race. Then the movie could be about the humans and the prawns learning to work together to fight off a common enemy. But thats just speculation.

As for getting sick, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I didn't even notice it the first time I watched it. But then again, I saw Cloverfield and after that, I'm practically immune to motion picture motion sickness. I really did have to leave the theater and blow some chunks during Cloverfield. But I still enjoyed it a lot.

A MNU Bonecrusher would be WIN. If I could have someone make me some small MNU stickers I'd totally do it.
