The Movie Devastator Venting Thread

Recommended Posts

I kind of like him. Not in a $100 kind of way, but he reminds me of Magmatron, who was awesome.

And he has better articulation than this figure will have, I'm sure.

Granted, while it's just a method to bilk more money from us and parents who's kids who want the transforming bots and the combined form (and it will work cause there are some people who have the whole "Pokemon Syndrome" with collecting Transformers), it probably won't work on as grand a scale as they might hope. The shelves are going to be flooded with this box set, cause with this economy, except for people that don't mind being half broke, or those who are aware of the price point early on and squirrel away some money now, not many people are going to buy this set. It's going to be the Animated Battle Begins two packs all over again. Those damned things are still sitting on shelves wherever I go. I don't see them going away until it's clearance time for the movie line to start.

However, in case I do decide to get him, I'm holding some money back from my tax refund this year and getting him. It'll depend on how he seems to fare with some others who get him.

To be fair, this thread is for people "venting" about their dislike of this amazingly craptastic Devastator toy. It is not about the venting of fans about the fans that are venting about the toy. A couple of you guys should just bug out, because you're acting as if you were the ones that designed the thing.

With that said, the simplicity of that crane vehicle alone is worth scrapping the whole thing over. It's terrible and there is no amount of "painted detailing" that is going to save that. I know some people were saying "it isn't fully painted yet". Well, when it is, it'll still suck. Also, the back of Devastator's head having the entire front of a cement mixer truck just looks laughable. I see no way that this thing sells, at all, for $100; no way. Some of the individual C'cons that have bot modes look good, but I've got to agree on the Scavenger mold. It looks terrible, even as a stand alone. It still looks like pieces are missing to me.

note the word "discussion" at the top of the page dude

you all dislike it (good for you) & many people have valid points about the figure - it's when people post pure unfounded horsesh*t like "OMG THEY SHOULD GIVE THEM ALL FULL ARTICULATION AND SELL IT FOR HALF THE PRICE AND HAND PAINT EACH ONE INDIVIDUALLY FFFFFFF" as if £100 is a bad price to pay for this huge toy that i feel the need to enter the discussion with a quick reality check (take a look around TRU or wherever at toys this size & tell me what you can get for £100 these days - not much!) heck the original fort max was like £90 or something & i'll take 6 construction vehicles over fort max's crappy base mode any day (before you ask i have brave max)

"Dude", your entire "discussion" is contradictive to itself. No one has said that it should be better AND cheaper. Nearly everyone has stated it should be one or the other. You're arguing exactly the opposite. You're saying it should be crappy AND expensive. If you're fine with that, then there is no discussion left for you. It's like I said, you act as if you are the one who created this toy. Exactly what is it that you've got at stake with this toy? It sucks. You know it. I know it. Hasbro knows it. Yet, only one party envolved is actually admitting it.

ironic you mock my "dude" comment yet you make up words like "contradictive" and "envolved" (just saying)

anyway...

the "FANBOY RANT" was quite obviously an exaggeration - you can't have thought i was literally quoting anyone, could you? oh dear... what i'm saying is that oh forget it look attempt to understand my previous post it covered all your "points" already

(simplified for the simple among us: no it's not masterpiece quality / no it's not overpriced compared to other toy lines / yes we would all love one that combines and has individual modes / no a combining and individual bot version would not pass safety tests / yes most of the rants are unrealistic)

the sooner you wake up and smell the proverbial coffee the better

dude :)

I misspelled involved and contradictive IS a word. Check it... dude.

Selling individual bots that combine would have to pass this same "drop test"? I'm still not sure about that one. Also, if you meant something different than what you posted, then you fail to convey that over the internet. "Just saying". I don't sleep on the thought of crappy Transformers that look like some sort of Zord with the entire cab of a truck on the back of it's head. :wave

contradictive is a word now? i'd suggest not trying to question my english as i may type lazily on the internet but i'd rather act stupid than act intelligent - the word you're looking for is contradictory fyi (look it up on a respectable website or even better pick up a complete english dictionary)

you're babbling on and getting all confused over the stupidest things - i really pity you...

let's see your last spout and break it down for you:

Selling individual bots that combine would have to pass this same "drop test"? I'm still not sure about that one.

where did i say that? in fact, where did i say something even remotely similar? what the blazes are you on about? you're clearly a very confused little boy

Also, if you meant something different than what you posted, then you fail to convey that over the internet. "Just saying".

(*failed mr act-intelligent) hang on a minute here - see your first comment & try to tell me you made sense - a dare you

I don't sleep on the thought of crappy Transformers that look like some sort of Zord with the entire cab of a truck on the back of it's head.

nobody said it didn't look like a power ranger toy (i agree it's... different)

look why don't you pull your panties out of your crack & stop trying to act like you know everything okay it's really simple:

  • no it's not masterpiece quality (i think we agree on that)
  • no it's not overpriced compared to other toy lines (open your eyes & look around)
  • yes we would all love one that combines and has individual modes (lol, fantasies!)
  • no a combining and individual bot version would not pass safety tests (too unstable/big/fragile)
  • yes most of the rants are unrealistic (my summary i don't need your input)

see that list & try to come back with some valid counterpoints instead of mudslinging this time kiddo

the toy is crap.

can we all get along?

Hasbro should have made fully transformable and combinable Deluxe class Constructicons, sold indvidually or as a boxed set. Why must it be feast or famine when it comes to movie Devastator?

Hasbro should of reissue G1 Devastator!!

So can I get a show of hands on how many people here actually WILL purchase movie Devastator for Hasbro's MSRP?

Eh...

:pfx :deadhorse

Hell a new guy got one in.

Thats the problem with these oppinion threads. Love it, hate it, right, wrong...

At some point some one intentionaly or inadvertently will push buttons, and the topic gets swayed.

Then again, we all have the right to our oppinion.

Concerning the last pyramid of quotes. No this isn't a MP figure, but it is going for MP price. Yes it may be more detailed then Fort Max, and I would hope for that some 20 years after that figures release.

Compairing even scout to Fort Max is a mote point, articulation, and general manufacturing has come a long way. Still we have to keep in mind all the extras Max sported. I've listed them earlier in this thread, and see no reason to repeat myself. That doesn't change the fact though that alot of those features we haven't seen since.

I can't believe this Devestaor will have a 2 level working elevator, and thats for starters.

I believe the figure should have individual bot modes. Alot of combiners have come and gone with alot less room to work. Again, it's 25 years, there's no excuse for not doing whats been done many times over already.

I can only speak for US domestic, but I believe this will be a record priced Transformer, and yes when compaired to other $100 lets say Lego sets that have hundreds of intricate pieces to make a detailed exact replica of the $100 exact replica of lets say some Star Wars crap thats loaded with extras...

Well, I can say looking at how those expensive items honor what they're supose to be, we're being short changed with a Transformer that doesn't fully transform.

Some with a contridictian nature may scoff at that, Fine. However deep down we all know they sould have done better.

From the images I’ve seen, he looks like a$$ … a pimped up zord. But he wouldn’t be the first TF I’ve picked up who looked bad :casts glance towards several Beast Machines Maximals:. The movie will sell the toy, if Devastator is given plenty of screen time and catches the viewer’s imagination the toy will sell to the audience - and as fans, against our better judgement, we’re likely to pay the rrp because we just can’t wait to get our hands on him.

I’ve got to see the figure up close and personal before I can cast any definitive opinion, but it’s unlikely I’ll drop 100 on it, clearance or the seconds market is the way to go on this bad boy.
