The Movie Devastator Venting Thread

Recommended Posts

To be fair, this thread is for people "venting" about their dislike of this amazingly craptastic Devastator toy. It is not about the venting of fans about the fans that are venting about the toy. A couple of you guys should just bug out, because you're acting as if you were the ones that designed the thing.

With that said, the simplicity of that crane vehicle alone is worth scrapping the whole thing over. It's terrible and there is no amount of "painted detailing" that is going to save that. I know some people were saying "it isn't fully painted yet". Well, when it is, it'll still suck. Also, the back of Devastator's head having the entire front of a cement mixer truck just looks laughable. I see no way that this thing sells, at all, for $100; no way. Some of the individual C'cons that have bot modes look good, but I've got to agree on the Scavenger mold. It looks terrible, even as a stand alone. It still looks like pieces are missing to me.

note the word "discussion" at the top of the page dude

you all dislike it (good for you) & many people have valid points about the figure - it's when people post pure unfounded horsesh*t like "OMG THEY SHOULD GIVE THEM ALL FULL ARTICULATION AND SELL IT FOR HALF THE PRICE AND HAND PAINT EACH ONE INDIVIDUALLY FFFFFFF" as if £100 is a bad price to pay for this huge toy that i feel the need to enter the discussion with a quick reality check (take a look around TRU or wherever at toys this size & tell me what you can get for £100 these days - not much!) heck the original fort max was like £90 or something & i'll take 6 construction vehicles over fort max's crappy base mode any day (before you ask i have brave max)

Who's comparing it to better movies?

P-C does all the time when he complains about the movie and talks about how Hollywood should be capable of better than the shitty cartoon.

I say Hollywood shouldn't have to do any better than the shitty cartoon for the fans of the shitty cartoon to dig the movie.

It's a common exchange between he and I.

Not sure how that factors in seeing Toei did the animation for G1 (based in Japan)

Anyways, I think the crux of the angst comes from drones with no individual robot modes costing $100 as a set. Everyone knows how well Ultimate BB sold. It was an $80 techno-glitch. However, barn-burn the price to $35 and they seem to fly off the shelves a little easier.

Would I pay $100 for seven vehicles that transformed into one giant robot? A bit excessive for my taste. To be fair, we've only seen pictures. Some of the justification is going to have to be based on articulation. Does it have all the proper knee/hip/waist/shoulder/elbow joints? If not, then there's not going to be a lot of folks willing to shell out a Ben for it IMO.

The other thing I don't understand is how they are releasing the "drones" in a non-combining class with individual robot modes. WHY?! What kind of business sense would that make?? OK, I understand from a practical standpoint that making 3 different modes (alternate, robot, gestalt limb) is a bit tough. Still, as it stands now (with what info we've been given), it does seem like an insult.

I just can't do it. 100 bucks for non transforming transformer just won't happen on my watch. I'm sure I will really enjoy him on the screen but I won't be enjoying this chunk on my shelves anytime soon.

FWIW, if you look closely at the molds I believe we'll find they are actually made of a softer plastic that will be hollow to keep the weight down. Which I a guessing is prob why they didn't make 6 deluxe figures combine. That fig would have fallen over on its own weight.

And that makes it different from any other Transformers fiction...how, exactly?

I move that from here on out, complaints aimed solely at the movie that the entire franchise is guilty of be termed "irrational anger".

:tflaugh Beast Wars'D!!!

But hasbro knows better.

Why are they giving us a 2 feet tall crap of plastic that's a half former? Idk but I'm sure hasbro said the samething to themselves

They're actually giving it to the kids. Who will eat it up and be glad to have it and those who didn't get it will envy those that did.

And that is Hasbro's job. We're just freaks along for the ride., we're not in the driver's seat.

Agreed, but Hasbro could have given kids everything in one set. Instead there are separate vehicles that turn into robots and a set of vehicles that turn into limbs. So Hasbro creates a new generation of kids who don't get what they see on the screen. In twenty years there may be a MP Movie Devastator that gives today's future collectors the toy they wanted as children.

As for us "freaks", Hasbro lost a lot of guaranteed sales of a $100 set of Transformers. I know that I would have bought one.

That said, this Devastator isn't nearly as cheap as Energon Devastator. Stupid, repeated mold, tiny-headed piece of crap.

"Dude", your entire "discussion" is contradictive to itself. No one has said that it should be better AND cheaper. Nearly everyone has stated it should be one or the other. You're arguing exactly the opposite. You're saying it should be crappy AND expensive. If you're fine with that, then there is no discussion left for you. It's like I said, you act as if you are the one who created this toy. Exactly what is it that you've got at stake with this toy? It sucks. You know it. I know it. Hasbro knows it. Yet, only one party envolved is actually admitting it.

I kind of like him. Not in a $100 kind of way, but he reminds me of Magmatron, who was awesome.

ironic you mock my "dude" comment yet you make up words like "contradictive" and "envolved" (just saying)

anyway...

the "FANBOY RANT" was quite obviously an exaggeration - you can't have thought i was literally quoting anyone, could you? oh dear... what i'm saying is that oh forget it look attempt to understand my previous post it covered all your "points" already

(simplified for the simple among us: no it's not masterpiece quality / no it's not overpriced compared to other toy lines / yes we would all love one that combines and has individual modes / no a combining and individual bot version would not pass safety tests / yes most of the rants are unrealistic)

the sooner you wake up and smell the proverbial coffee the better

dude :)
