Full Robot shown For tf2 Prime

Recommended Posts

Scale is really of no issue in the realm of toys.

Look, this is pretty simple, I don't see what you guys aren't getting.

Prime is a semi truck. Jetfire is an SR-71 Blackbird. Based on Bay's previous statements about mass shifting, it is safe to assume that the robot modes of Prime and Jetfire will have a comparable difference in size in robot mode as they do in vehicle mode.

Since Jetfire will dwarf Prime, there isn't much Prime can do in the way of combining anyway. More like maybe he could be his targetmaster...but anyway, IF they combine, the design of the combined form will more than likely take into account the large difference in size between the two. The toys, desiring to look as much like the movie representations as possible, will take this into account.

So, will they be "in scale" like they're both 1/24 representations of their on-screen counterparts? No.

Would a Jetfire at the Leader Class price point be able to combine with this figure and suitably approximate the on-screen combination between a 30 ft. tall robot and a 100 ft. tall robot? Probably not.

Is making a Jetfire large enough to combine with this Prime and approximate the on-screen combination feasible? No.

It is, therefore, safe to assume this Prime toy is not going to be making with the combining. That was my whole point. No one is arguing Hasbro will make toys "to scale" with each other in anyway that they have not previously done. But it is not feasible that this toy will combine with a Jetfire toy in anyway that will approximate the CGI models, unless Bay has changed his mind about on-screen mass shifting.

Please stop arguing otherwise. It's pretty irrefutable.

If only to you.

Still, Hasbro makes the toys not Bay. This is why I have a tank thats the size of a camaro, and a pickup truck that dwarfs them both.

Will it look stupid on screen to have them merge, probably. But concerning the toys I recall in the Legends pic that Jetfire's nose cone towered over Prime.

Still the matter is that what Bay does on screen, may not be what Hasbro puts on the shelves,

Movie Megatron, on screen sleek wings, the toy, big bulky jobbers

Movie Bonecrusher, on screen skinny arms, the toy, has truck halves hanging off.

Prime, well not a single one was right, they looked close, but thats about it.

And I can go on.

Now, is it actualy confirmed that the 2 will combine, I don't know. Outside of the legend pic, I can't say, I'm not one for spoilers. I do know though that there is alot of talk in the bios I've read about combination, so it does seem very probable, even if not on screen.

So, you can argue the toy loyalty and scale to whats on screen, or you can take into account 25 years of TF toy history, which to me makes the more irrefutable argument.

Of course, only time will tell though who's right in this, but I wouldn't mind making a wager

I'm game.

If Leader Class Prime combines with a Jetfire figure, you can pick the avatar and sig I use for a month.

If Leader Class Prime does not combine with a Jetfire figure, I'll pick yours.

For the purposes of our game, I would define "combine" as any configuration wherein both toys can be attached and lifted/moved about as a single toy in a way clearly defined by Hasbro in the instructions.

I would also add the caveat that if the combining is a toy only gimmick, and not represented in the film, I'm calling the whole wager null and void as my "toy loyalty and scale to whats on screen" argument is null if nothing happens on-screen to compare to. Similarly if the Leader Class Jetfire figure can combine or interact with multiple size class Primes, Leader included, I call null and void, since both of our POVs are valid in such a situation.

Oooo, this is gonna be good.

Fair enough, except for one thing, I wanna change the size requirements on Jetfire, cause if he is Ultra and even Voyager and combines, it would only further prove that concerning the toys the scale is a non issue conscerning manufacture when compaired to gimmick vs onscreen loyalty. Also if it is only a toy gimmic, the inital deal is null and void as per you, however a "HAHAHAHAHA" is due. Should there be no combining gimmic whatsoever in media or toy, not only do you win the bet, but retain "HAHA" rights

If this can be agreed upon and we can it friendly, I'll shake on this bet.

I'll act as a witness if you guys need one. :o

I was gonna ask for an impartial one. If Hobbes agrees...

I'm not advocating the combining of Prime and Jetfire. Considering, however, the ape-like robot mode of Starscream, I wouldn't be surprised if Jetfire's robot mode was not as tall as we might expect it to be.

I don't consider Jetfire's size to be a factor. The bet is merely whether Leader Prime connects to a jetfire, so we're cool on that.

As for "HAHA" rights, I am not saying Hasbro is concerned about scale if they are creating a toy only gimmick, so there are no "HAHA"s to be had. I am fully aware of Hasbro's usual lack of concern for scale and do not dispute it. I only maintain that they would take scale into consideration when trying to approximate the on-screen combination of characters in a medium that is concerned with scale. So, there are no "HAHA" rights to be had, as we agree on that particular point.

Otherwise I'm fine with shaking, and with Datastream being the impartial "judge" if you will.

Agreed, Datastreem, please keep track of this.
