Union City's 24hr Wal-Mart had 3 Alts cases of the Rollbar/Skids/Ricochet/Sunstreaker assortment and two 20th Primes tonight. I decided I didn't really want the Sunstreaker (after I'd kinda "coaxed" one of the cases open in order to get a peak at the assortment). This was just before midnight.

 

I went to buy some fries from the in-store McD's an' when I'd gone back to take a look, some guy had two Sunstreakers in hand and had torn all the 3 Alts cases open while they were still on the pallet. Unlike the first case I'd peeked at, the other two were completely sealed all around the bottom edges with tape, so he had to cut in a full H pattern.

 

(They also had what appeared to be two of the 25th GI Joe 5-packs in case, for those interested. None on the shelves. After seeing the guy make off with the Sunstreakers I briefly entertained the fantasy of snatching the Joe case but it was rather deep under that thick saran wrap stuff they use and that pushed my boundaries of ethical behavior.)

I saw a bunch of the later wave Classics and Cybertron materialize on WalMart store shelves about a month ago (Target and TRU didn't bite on restocking the older stuff) - most of what appeared is now gone, and I doubt it'll get restocked - although some DVD 20th Primes and the Prime/Megs classic 2-packs are lingering on the shelves.

TRU Sunnyvale restocked on Cybertron stuff, actually, it just sold pretty quickly. (Which I found surprising.) I saw people buying Thundercracker and the Optimus Primal guy.

Ok so wat is this. Ive been out of the loop, out of the country for the last 7 months. And came back HOPING to catch up on my classics collection... And everything is like...x4 times the price on Amazon and such... Wtf?

Oops, that's right. I was in there one time and there was this poor woman with an Excelion asking the clerk whether we was a good or a bad guy in the new movie and was extremely disappointed to discover that he wasn't in the movie at all.

Here's what you missed. In late April/early May most places (except Walmart) clearanced the left over Classics to make room for movie stuff. The major retailers severely under forecast the amount of movie toys they were going to sell, when most of the movie stuff sold out all of the remaining Classics vanished. About a month ago some places (WalMart and TRU) got restock of Classics and Cybertron, which also quickly sold - likely because a lot of the people buying them didn't realize that they weren't movie toys (the above woman in TRU), while the rest were new fans looking to collect some of the older lines (and Classics is a natural for people who want a G1 nostalgia fix).

Target Sunnyvale had a single, lone, deluxe Payload this afternoon. TRU Sunnyvale got in 3 leader Brawls.

Found the newest wave of Robot Replicas (Prime, Jazz, Frenzy) at the Target on Capitol and McKee.

 

Picked up the first two, was underwhelmed by Frenzy.

Swung by the Milipitas WalMart at lunch: they had quite a few (3-4) of the later wave Voyagers (Prime, Megs, Tcracker and ResRachet).

any 1 find the masterpiece starscream yet? been searchin around the bay and no luck. if any 1 did,plz post it
