Combiner reduxes

Recommended Posts

Yeah but...their characters were HURT by being combiners.

Does anyone really know personalities for Razorclaw, Long Haul, Strafe, and Groove?

Not really. Even less can recall info from their tech specs.

But saying "Constructicons, Aerialbots, Protectobots" is just lame. I like the individuals of a combiner just as much as the main set.

Also, I want to see a combination that's more unique than just "Dude turns into arm/leg, pegs into larger torso dude".

As usual, Pete speaks wisdom.

I'm a little sick of the standard Torso Leader with Limb Team Members combining anyway. I find guys like Magnaboss and that RID train team to be much more interesting, and even then I think they could push the envelope even more. I mean, why just combine into another humanoid robot, only larger? Combine and become a dragon or something that could execute battle maneuvers you couldn't pull off individually.

Have a little creativity Cybertronian designers.

So I take it you would like what they did for the Insecticons in the Heats of Steel comic?

BTW, I agree.

That is cool, but at the same time you wouldn't want these guys to be dependent upon each other in order to be able to transform at all. REFLECTOR'D

I'll wait until next year... at BotCon they said that they *might* do combiners for the 25th anniversary, and if they do they'll be all unique molds w/ no repaints.

Anyway, I think it's great that they're making guys like Onslaught and Silverbolt. And I'll be honest, I think it's great that they're standalone figures because they're not hampered by the dual transformation thingy. Both of them look awesome IMO. And honestly I don't think combining is that important, and I don't think it would be practical at that size either. I don't want to think of the deluxes that would have to support the weight of three other robots. They'd look like bricky ass. I'd much rather see deluxes that look like Classics Mirage (who would be crushed under the weight of any larger figure, or even one of the same size).

we've seen some pretty awesome gestalts from kit bashers that have used existing toys as a platform. if a kit basher can do it, a hasbro designers should at least be able to accomplish it.

I feel like the Combaticons still have pretty distinct personalities.

Swindle especially, but also Vortex, Blast-Off, and Onslaught. Not really for Brawl, though.

Yeah, but kitbashers don't have accountants or safety standards. :)

but how many kitbashers use lead based paint or let small children player with them where they might swallow small parts?
