VT6 to Blaster repaint

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all. I forget where, but a while ago I saw a digibash of this guy into Blaster, so I finally decided to give it a shot myself. I don't have a head for him yet, or his yellow chest-panel, but here's what I've done so far:

It's kind of hard to see there, but I'm rather proud of how the drybrushing on his robot bits went (this is only my second repaint, y'see.)

So yeah! Comments, advice? I was thinking of finding a Longview (or whatever his repaint is called) and scavenging the head from it; that way I can use it's body to make Cosmos, too :P

EDIT: HE'S DONE :D

He's fun! Is he getting a tape-door?

He's fun! Is he getting a tape-door?

I was planning to make a solid one out of modelling putty/clay (not sure what it's called, but my friend uses it for his Warhammer models), but if anyone has ideas how to make one that opens, I'm all for that.

Although I have no idea how I'd make a transforming cassettebot :P

I don't think he really needs a tape-door per se. Put some fake speakers on the legs and give him a clear "screen" with a printedIt MP3 readout behind it and he's a perfectly serviceable digital player. You could even make the "background" of the display resemble his old chest design; the yellow box with a big grey trapezoid. Put a fake "sound wave" across it and a track title, slap a clear sheet cut from packaging over it and glue it together.

Looking good!

I don't know if his chest is curved at all, but if not you could use part of a CD jewel case. They're cheap and easy to get hold of, and all you need to cut them up is a steel rule and a blade. Score repeatedly and snap. Just be aware of the brittleness and don't try to support any real weight with them!

And if the chest is curved, Hooper X's suggestion of the stiff-but-flexible packaging window plastic would be the way to go! :thumb

Hmm, that might work.... And I've got plenty of clear plastic packaging lying around, too. Thanks :D

I was thinking of turning one of these into Soundwave.

Just couldn't find a good head. Maybe Robot Heroes Soundwave?

Making him an MP3 player is a good idea. Package windows are your best bet for clear plastic. I use them all the time.
