The coolest idea for an Alternator ever...

You and me both, bro. I desperately love 350z's and hate ANY 4 door sedan period. That includes Cliffjumper as a Neon. That would fit Bumblebee better since they are both suck. :puke

Hey whats wrong with 4 doors? I have an XJR that hauls ass and looks evil in black, admittedly there are a lot more sexy cars out there but give 4 doors a break, I quite like the RX8 too. ;)

In response to Prowl not being a Subaru....

Welcome to England boys and girls.

On a side note this car was actually designed for their police by Prodrive.

Ill bet it does. But you said it for me: "there are more sexy cars out there". Jags are great luxury cars. But Im not interested in luxury. In fact, Im all out against it in any kind of performance car. Speed, handling and style are all a good sports car needs.

Im not knocking anyone for liking what they like, but i AM knocking Subaru and Mitsubishi for being a bunch of fatass lazy beancounting dorks for not making the effort and designing a car that looks the part of the performance they offer. They want to make sedan versions of these cars for those who need the room for their families? Fine. I got no problem there, or with those who choose that bodystyle based on that need. I dont have a problem who has the opinion that sedans are actually attractive, taste is subjective. Where I do have a problem is that they made the choice for us, instead of offering it two ways and letting us decide. Id love to have a WRX, but I wont touch it with a 60 foor pole unless its wrapped in a body at least as sporty as the old 2.5 RS coupe. Which by the way, was offered in both sedan and coupe bodystyles. Coupes abound, yet Ive never seen a 2.5 RS sedan outside of the sales brochure, which tells me a little something that it should have told those pointy headed Subaru execs who made the sedan-only decision. I'm all about options, people. And any corporation that seeks to take those options away from us consumers because its cheaper to do so is wrong for it.

As to the RX-8, I love that car. I dont consider it a 4-door, and certainly not a sedan, since what I consider a 'rear door' looks like one. It would hinge at the front, open independently of the front door, and have a rolldown window, and an exposed latch. And a car with four of these would not be considered a coupe, which the body shape of the RX-8 most definitely is. What I would call those is 'access panels', like used on most King Cabs now, and on the Honda Element and Saturn coupe. That car is sheer genius. You get it all: Style of a sexy sports car, razor sharp handling, and power that rivals any sports car in its price range. And you have a back seat with reasonable access. Rather than take the lazy ass way out, like Subaru and Mitsubishi, Mazda went the extra mile. They took the time to design a car that has the style to back up the performance, and made it practical to live with for those who need a little space. Rather than use a bunch of hype to pump up a car that they only did half the work on, Mazda made enough effort to earn the roughly $30k asking price. Subaru and Mitsu didnt. They want to sell you an econobox that looks no different than a Kia costing $8K for the same price just because they finally figured out what decent performance is. This car makes any and all 4 door sedans obsolete, since there is no longer a reason to sacrifice style and drive an ugly, boring conservative family cruiser to have a car thats practical to own.

Basically all Im saying is demand more. Its your money, make these corporate jerkoffs earn every penny. Dont settle for something that isnt worth every last cent you spent on it. We'll all have better choices if we take this into account.

And thats my 2 energon cubes. :thumb

:rofl You obviously don't have a family.

Nope, I dont. Niether I nor my girlfriend want one, either. We'd rather just enjoy our neices and nephews, and let their parents change the diapers, pay for college, etc.

But, if i DID have a family, here's what I'd do: I already have the ride of my dreams (lifted '00 Wrangler Sport. Looks like Alt. Swindle), so I'd get her what she'd like to have. She's partial to that RX-8 also, although Id push for the 350Z. Whatever, the point is, Id get two vehicles we're really crazy about. Buy 'em, keep 'em a long time well past the point of depreciation even mattering, and drive them when its nice outside and when the other is dealing with the family.

Then, Id go shop for about a '90 Corolla, Maxima, something along that line, for around $1500. Not a broken down heap, but cheap and reliable. Who cares about dents, interior condition, or anything cosmetic. So long as its cheap and runs reliably. Whoever had to cart around the kids that day could drive it. Kids, no matter how clean and well behaved, wreck things. The spill milkshakes, drip ketchup, have muddy feet, you get the idea. Even if your new ride is a Taurus, it still cost good money and you dont want that crap inside, right? And besides cars like that depreciate faster than you want to think about. Even if your beater completely blows up, your only out $1500. A new family car/minivan will depreciate 3 times that in a year, so what are you losing? And if you get nervous relying on something that old as your workhorse, get a new one every year or two before it has a chance to cost you any real money. Old ladies are selling these kinds of car cheap every day, and they havent been bashed or beaten.

The kids would only be allowed to ride the beater. They wouldnt be allowed to look at, think about, stand within 10 feet of, and God forbid ever drive the Jeep/sportscar. Then years down the line, I may have gone thru several beaters that I could care less about, but I'll have saved money, and own two cars I really love that have few miles and no dents, stains, tears, dried up puke, or any of the other things that come with kids. I let a car that I only own because I have to take the fall with all the abuse, whereas my prize rides get the royal treatment.

So again, why sacrifice if you can have what you REALLY want? And if that formula doesnt work for you, just get the RX-8. It isnt THAT much smaller than a sedan.

And by the way, my parents never had family cars/minivans when we were growing up. We had two fullsize broncos, a Jeep, an F-150 X-tra cab, an F-150 Single Cab, a Cougar, a Thunderbird and a Cutlass. We had a fullsize conversion van, but that was mainly used for the yearly trip from TN back home to NJ. I wouldnt have wanted my parents picking me up from school in the normal family car, hell these rides were MUCH cooler, at least in the '80s they were.

Let me know how that works out for you.
