id say the tall cone WJ. it looks proportionate agains the rest of the body.

Back of the jet mode looks a little flat

 

I agree, it would be alright if the cockpit was lower/more sunk in, but since that would be harder to do some little tailfins would probably be the easiest way to make his alt. mode look a little more even/proportioned.

 

In regards to the head cone, both look good, so use whichever one you would like. In my opinion the shorter cone looks more friendly and the taller one more angry/menacing, so given that he's a decepticon, the tall cone might be more fitting. If you ever wanted to make Masterpiece aerialbots the shorter cone wouldn't look out of place on one of them (I know none of the G1 aerialbots had cone heads, but you could slap it in for some variation).

He looks awesome, awesome Awesome! I'd say go with the shorter cone. It has better angles. I don't like how the taller one pinches in the middle. Maybe if you built up the middle of the taller one, so it had a smoother curve... Or one in between... Either way he's fantastic.

The chest vents are an interesting choice. You might want to smooth out the missile pods, so that they look like blank, hollow ports like in the cartoon.

I think you've just caused an increase in the prices of junker G1 seekers :tftongue

 

But I must not confess to understand what exactly you had to mod for this to make it possible to transform with the conehead. Some parts had to be cut and glued, but it wasn't completely clear to me what. Can you show a close up pic of an unmodded and a modded version?

PS. Also prefer the larger head. Looks better with the overal bodyshape and the intakes/shoulders
