Looks pretty good. I'm intrigued by this "maybe he's a combiner" thing... that's anews letter I'd like to subscribe to... as opposed to the collectors club one.

Classics/Universe lineup on a figure that has more or less already been done.

BTW I doubt Onslaught or any other Combaticons that come out of Universe will form Bruiticus. Just call it a feeling, but I doubt we'll see any combiners. Or even full combiner teams released. I wouldn't be surprised if Onslaught was all we saw of the Combaticons from Universe.

 

Don't say that. Considering how well Classics sold the first time around (which is why they decided to continue the line at all), they'd be stupid not to make a combiner team if they're releasing Onslaught. The only way to tell if a combiner team would sell would be to test the waters with an original mold, and not a repaint of a crap-stalt (looks at Energon mold repainted Classics Devastator).

More Classics = Awesome.

The head is way more busy than Onslaught's... and I guess the color is about right. I tend to think of Onslaught as more green than blue, but I'm looking at my G1 Onslaught and I guess he is pretty blue. And the chest, like I said, is Onslaughty in retrospect but not so much that my mind immidiately went there.

 

I guess part of the reason my mind didn't make the connection was the SWAT thing. It's like as if Hot Spot were suddenly a tank. It doesn't really fit the Combaticon motif, in my book (... Blast-Off notwithstanding).

 

Bob Saget I want to see more of these guys though. Srsly.

Damn it, I want to see more images..... but not willing to join the club for the magazine. Someone told me that Unicron.com had images up of the new classics line... but have found the like.

I knew he was Onslaught the moment I saw a little thumbnail of his head, upper-chest, and the back guns. He screams "I'm f'ing Onsalught Protectobots!" to me. The colors are there, the head is similiar but not totally the same (much like Classics Prime), and he's got the back guns.

I think he'll turn into a Ballistics Armored Transport Truck done up as a SWAT truck. Basically a big Armored SUV that transports special teams into very hostile areas, like into Riot Zones or crossfire situations. But overall, I think those BATT's are used for military purposes, so this may be an interesting twist. However, if anyone knows differently on this, correct me.

 

The first 5 of the New TF:Universe - IMO - will be:Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Octane, Onslaught, and one unrevealed character. We've already seen artwork for the Twins and Octane. I don't see why they'd be pushed back any farther for a later release. I think it is just a giant marketing tool by Showign Onslaught and saying "THE FIRST FIVE! OF WAVE ONE!" It's a hook for "Is it a Gestalt?!?!" for us. Do I expect Bruticus? NOT AT ALL.

 

I think if we're lucky we'll get maybe one or two more Combaticons, but I could be wrong.

Onslaught: The only G1 combiner other than Devastator that was worth a Blot.

I still prefer this guy over all of them.
