SUPERION MAXIMUS as a toy

I'm with ReverendNash - never had any problems with my Tripredacus or Magnaboss in terms of plastic quality. I've had both these toys for nearly 10 years now and never had any breakages. And IMO Tripredacus is the better of those two BW gestalts. I also prefer the Hasbro colours for Sea Clamp - Gimlet's colours make him look like a cooked lobster! Tapas anyone? ;D

 

BTW, where did the term gestalt originate? I know its definition is technically what a combiner team does...but when did it become and official term? I always called them combiners.

Gestalt is a term coined by a German-speaking fan around 1994 in the alt.toys.transformers newsgroup.

 

It was used because at that time, the word "Combiner" had been officially used to describe the Micromaster Combiners, who aren't gestalts - and of course, we have Micromaster gestalts from Japan, who aren't combiners!

 

And for a long time, everything was cool ... we all understood that gestalts =/= combiners. But then Hasbro, in their Ritalin-starved inattentiveness, went and used the term "Combiner" to describe the RiD gestalts, and things have been confoozling ever since. :/
