Those of you who are complaining about the size and cost quit your whining! :tard Both Takara’s MPP aka Masterpiece Prime and Hasbro’s 20th Anniversary Prime are fantastic works of imagination, they truly deserve to be called the crowning achievement of the entire TF toyline! So the cost is higher, save up! He is worth it even at full retail of $100. + tax. His size is awesome, the details, the articulation, the weight, etc… all make him an incredibly engineered toy!

IMO he does not have to match the sizing of the other Binaltech TF, screw them, Prime is in an entirely different classification of his own. Unicron is not die-cast, nor is he the largest TF ever, though we all know he should be. Despite all of this flaws we still relish the fact he is finally released, right? Toywise, Fortress Maximus could stomp on Unicron, but who cares? The same can be said about MPP, he is simply the BEST TF ever, no comparisons, no other TF comes remotely close.

Should MPP be improved? No. This is as good as it gets! Forget about adding the gimmicks, voices, more lights, the trailer, or roller. Enjoy and appreciate the fact that NOW is the BEST time to be a TF collector. Newbie, fair weather TF, old school collectors REJOICE… Optimus aka Convoy is finally here in a way we could only dream of 20 years ago!

I called Toys R Us and Super Targer today. Super Target had two in stock, so I told them to hold them for me. I bought both of them, but one's for my friend.

One thing that was off on it was the hinge on the driver's side front window. I noticed both were like this...even in pictures on other websites.

Some people are too difficult to please. :tdown

You mean the chest won't close right?

If so, make sure the pieces under the chest doors (the silver stripe parts) are pushed all the way into place. If they're not, you'll hear a loud "snap" as they lock in. That was the only time I couldn't get his chest to close right.

Still minor flaws and if yours has them and you cannot fix it, return it or exchange it! 20th Prime is awesome! :thumb :tflaugh

Well, guys, I need some input.

My job requires me to go to every Wal-Mart in a hundred mile radius of my home. I've recently seen 20th Anniversary Prime there, but without a price. Finally, yesterday, I saw the price: $62.32! I couldn't believe it! I thought it would be in the ninety buck range.

So, here's my problem: do I spend forty-fifty bucks more and get the Takara version, or do I just buy the Hasbro version? Every one I've seen has the black particle rifle, and the price has been the same as well.

Please, no "if you were a real Transformers fan, you'd pay for the Takara version!" I want to hear honest opinions, and if possible, comparisons by anyone who's seen both versions "in the flesh."

*shrug*

As has been stated before, the only differences between the two are the packaging, the length of the smokestacks, Hasbro's battle-damage/grease-staining/road-wear paint app and (now) the black Ion Blaster with Hasbro's.

(And, of course, the pricing, but that's to be expected from an import, yes? :))

I'm quite happy with the clean look of Masterpiece Convoy. He still has 'battle-damage', but it's in the form of scarring/scoring in the plastic, which really doesn't need to be 'enhanced' with ugly grey paint, IMO.

The longer stacks look MUCH better to me. I've never liked Hasbro's stunted stacks on later runs of G1, re-issue or (particularly) this Prime. (speaking of.. anybody know where I can order replacement stacks for my Commemorative Series I Prime? I really -hate- those short stacks he's sportin'...)

Beyond these cosmetic points, the two figures are identical, down the the electronics (light-up Matrix Annex in his chest) and the die-cast parts (chest and lower legs).

The only really important thing is whether or not the long stacks and clean paint job are worth the extra money to you. I know it was well worth it to me. :thumb
