TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

I like the Idea of Starscream being a F-22 Raptor.  For Soundwave, a helicopter would be cool.  Maybe an AH-64D Apache Longbow. :Dc

i don't think a war machine fits soundwaves character, esp an apache.  soundwave should stick with something stealthy and spy-like.  even if the cons don't care about letting humans know and such, soundwave should fit into every day life.  back in the g1 days everybody had walkmans and boomboxes, so likewise, soundwave should be an mp3 player or cd player, hell even a computer is better than a war machine, but yea ppl are too unimaginative for size shifters  :roll

I have the feeling that we're only going to get Starscream, so it probably won't be a problem.

then how many bots are we getting per side?

Last I heard, it was going be 5 or 7 autobots and 10 decepticons.  The good guys are outnumbered for dramatic effect.

I think the Seekers should all be F-22 Raptors, And Soundwave could be a news van the one's with the large sat antenna on them that will help him blend in undetected,And Megatron could be a M-1 tank. :usa

I reckon Soundwave should stay as is, a tapedeck... who cares if it is out dated, hes an awesome character the way he is.

Thank goodness you're not in charge of character designs for this movie, Scattershot. I get a feeling that if you were an avid X-Men fan, you would've wanted to see Wolverine in yellow spandex. :D :D

But to be honest, cars turning into giant robots with guns is enough to appeal to kids anyway, (it did to us when we were younger right) so why dumb down the plot and make it a childs film rather than one aimed at all audiences?

Umm... no.

I think part of the key to the Transformers success was the fact that it didn't dumb things down for kids so much. Even despite the numerous flaws in the G1 cartoon, it didn't dumb things down for kids. Mike McConnohie explains this well (e.g. God Gambit).

If transforming robots was all that we needed to entertain us as kids, then we would've heppily kept on playing with Gobots. Sure... I had some Gobots... they came first. But when TFs came out, my loyalty totally shifted. At first, yes, it was because the toys were better. But then when the Challenge of the Gobots cartoon came out, it just couldn't compete with the Transformers comics and cartoon which I was reading and watching... unlike TFs, I felt that Gobots spoke down to me and simplified things for kids too much. Heck, I even kinda felt that way about the cartoon, which is why I've always preferred the comic continuity.

As McConnohie says, children aren't as stupid as adults often think they are, and literature aimed at kids shouldn't talk down to them.

For a while I've thought that a really appropriate alt mode for Soundwave would be a cell phone tower and an adjoining power junction box. The junction box would become the chest, the front would open up like the G1 toy, arms would flip out like a Smokescreen Alternator, and the tower would collapse like an antanae(spelling) from a real life boom box - in other words "telescoping" - the tower would then split in half and fold under the junction box to become the legs . . . and there'll be some feet in there somewhere. It wouldl fit right in with his MTMTE Cybertronian alt mode, but it wouldn't have a lot of play value, unless it came with cool electronic accesories and stuff.

I think it's imaginitive, anyways.

Wasn't it mentioned after it was green lighted that the movie will be for the kids and be about a kid and his car?  Hope not, I would love to see it done as a TF movie and not a human with some cameos of TF's movie.  I hope it's also not US based but is set around the world with the TF's learning everything about every culture, that would be more interesting.  Plus alt modes from around the world would be good.

Plus no pointless 'Male TF meets Fembot, falls in love, Fembot gets kidnapped, Male TF goes to get her back' plot, that's just plain dull.  Having the story in the movie actually show the extent of the civil war they're fighting, the horrors of it and showing that even a dead TF can't come back would be good to do.  Just like in a real war.

Example scene:  "Slag this, I'm not getting involved, I'm too young to die"

"You're three million years old, you're not too young to die"

"I say I'm too young, so I am.  It's pointless fighting in this war"

"Then we have just the job for you"

"Oh?"

"Yeah, you run around the battlefield, draw the Decepticon's fire away from us and we'll sell your pieces off to the Little Autobot's charity"

"Oh ha ha"

-Chuckles

i heard that it is more of the human side with the bots fighting more or less in the back ground....i sure hope not

Paint jobs for Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp should be a problem. Starscream can be flat gray with a few touches of red and blue. Thundercracker is a blue angels color scheme without the yellow, and Skywarp's a steatlh color scheme with a few touches of purple. Put them on an F-22, F-18, and F-117 respectively and it's very realistic.

While the touches of secondary colors may fudge the disguise thing just a minor bit, it'd be necessary just for the practical purpose of the audience knowing who's who if there's a dogfight between the seekers and standard military planes.

The movie will probably be hit or miss.

A lot of popular franchises have been killed by bad movies. At least Uwe Boll is not directing.  :tftongue

Still, that is not saying much seeing Ang Lee did get an Acadamey Award while butchering the Hulk. The movie could have been great, sadly it was not.

I think the movie should stick with G1 based designs like the Alternators. Megatron (if he cannot be a gun, should be a tank) and Soundwave should either be some kind of music device/computer or if that is not possible a stealth bomber.

As for the colors, the Decepticons have indeed little reason to hide. To them we are primitive little savages who can do them little. So why hide?

The Autobots would have to hide as the humans (in their infinite stupidity) do not see the distinction between Autobot and Decepticon.

Personally I would love to see a movie where they show the consequenses of the war but I highly doubt they would do that. Megatron crushing a helpless human in his hand untill he goes "splat" would be  :clap  in my book but I think Hasbro may have a problem with that.

They could always make 2 versions. One for kids and one for adults.  :tflaugh
