TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

This brings up my big frustration with the "no mass shifting" argument.

If you don't have mass shifting, how is Optimus Prime supposed to be able to talk to, say, Starscream? How is a human supposed to be able to talk to Prime without yelling the whole time?

Starscream should be Devastator-sized without any mass shifting.

And the Autobots would all be radically different heights which makes conversations difficult or impossible to shoot.

Imagine a conversation between Spike (6 foot tall), Bumblebee (20 feet tall), Optimus Prime (50 feet tall) and Jetfire (100 feet tall).

I think Don Murphy has stated there will be a small amount of size changing, just for this reason (however, some took his comments to mean that we'd still get a mini-tape deck turning into a huge robot  :roll  ).

That said, your numbers are a bit high:  the Autobot cars would be about 15-18 feet tall, Optimus around 30 - which is about the size differential in the original cartoon (where the Autobots ususally came up to Optimus' lower chest/waist) - Megatron would also be about 30 (assuming he's an M-1 Abrams).  Now Starscream would be largest, but he's still only be about 60 feet tall or so - I think he'll shrink down to about 30 feet.

just had a thought... starscream and crew would draw alot less attention to themselves if they were modelled after unmanned aircraft... then they could be smaller and stuff.

and 100000000x less cool

after all, we're not really interested in realism, are we? We want kickass war machines blowing the sh*t out of each other.

and tape decks

Well, it looks like the Simpsons Movie will be coming out July 27, 2007.  Transformers will have 2.5 weeks to have a good showing because once the Simpsons hit theaters, I don't think any movie will be able to compete.  Unless the movie just sucks horribly (which I doubt it will).

How can the Simpsons movie not suck?  It's probably just going to be a variation on the plot from a past episode, stretched out, and with better animation.

Or it could just mimic "Family Guy."

We should be so lucky, at least the people at Family Guy didn't have the arrogance to make their's a theatrical movie.  Why, after all these years, when the series is on a very poorly working auto-pilot, do they decide to make a Simpsons movie?

because teh series is on a very poorly working auto-pilot?  Maybe it'll be something that tries to reinvigorate teh series.  Like Maggie talking, or the kids finally aging.  Bart's been 10 for 16 years.

  • 2 weeks later...

I keep having this feeling that theyre ognna do somthing stupid with the seekers (i.e. have them all COMBINE into one jet or somthing moronic like that).

Yes, the mass shifting of the seekers and such will be quite a problem, starscream will tower over the others.

I like the idea of the NASA shuttle/ bullet train altmodes for ASTROTRAIN if he is shown in the movie (i.e. similar to the new "neo G1" line coming soon) the alt modes are generally the same size and wouldnt require alot of mass shifting, as astrotrain should be pretty big compared to the other decepticons.

I thing SS and the Seekers should be modeled after the IDW F-22 raptor versions---> the pic of starscream on the TFans opening page.

Soundwave should be a stealth figher/ bomber (i.e. more realistic version of his Cybertron/ Galaxy force form), painted dark dark blue, almost black- to fit the correct steath colour.
