I grew up from the 80's myself, but I have to say that the old is cheesy, and in the case of megatron, utter rubbish. Peater was good as optimus yes, so that would be passable in the new movie. But not the original megatron. He has a crappy old-man-ish typical 80's badguy rubbishness.

 

The newer megatron fron beast wars onwords IS megatron. He has been the best so far. Also garry chalk has a more powerfull voice, and comes accross more better than peater...

 

I just hope they use the new megatron in the movie.... it will be doomed if they use the old one :/

 

I had to voice my opinion over this, as I'm sick of seeing all of the peater cullen hype all over the place. Yes he was good in the original, but thats were that ends.

I think they should have taken it a step further and used unknown actors altogether for the voices. For that matter, they could have avoided all this controversy by telling a new TF story with new characters. I'm sick of all these people crying about how Bay is making something new. No he's not. He's just making another incarnation of the G1 series all over again.

if you think making a transformers movie without Optimus Prime is a good idea, then you need to call 911 cause you've lost your brain. That's like making a spiderman movie and leaving out spiderman. For everyone who isn't a "transformers fan" optimus prime IS transformers, it's thier only link to the franchise and they "an 90% of the true fanbase" will feel quite jipped. And for anyone who says that chalk is better than cullen, i submit that you haven't seen transformers the movie.

This movie isn't bending over to the G1 people. Have you seen the designs yet?

 

and Cullen as Prime doesn't mean he'll be doing his G1 prime voice. He can do a broad range, and we may get something we've never heard before.

Welker if a fantastic voice actor, he can play the part easily. Chalk and Kaye's beast wars performances are great, the A/E/C characters have been lackluster showing little personality. I don't really care who they cast just as long has they get a great person for the role.

personaly i think your views on the movies voice actors are wrong. and on an interesting note the guys doing the voices now have been doing it longer then cullen and welker so this switch back is sorta like a breth of fresh air

i'm getting worried because it sounds like there is a lot of negative opinions among the fandom and general populace. what's been your experience?

 

please don't flame in this thread, it's suppose to be a survey-type deal to guage the general attitude towards the new movie.

I've heard a lot of whiningfrom hard core fans about minor things, but they are still psyched about seeing it. Almost everyone I know or have talked to has mentioned it coming up and they all want to see it. I've shown them the designs that recently came out and other pics and they all liked what they saw (a few wtfs about primes flames though). So what it's looking like is that even the non-TF people want to see this movie, none seem to care about the TF past stories, they just want to see a good movie.

 

In short: consensus is looking way better than I had thought and it's gearing upo to be a "must see" movie for the populace. Also I might add I live in South Dakota, a state where there are a small handfull of TF fans and a ton of cowboys and farmers, so i think if they want to see it, it has to be even better response in bigger states/cities.

There should be some kind of rule that says no one can complain until after they've seen the movie.

as for me i have no opinion. yet. think about this though, even though some people dont like the bot modes now, im sure itll be different once we actually see them in motion. its like the difference between seeing toby maguire in costume standing up straight in a still shot as apposed to watching the scene where he fights doc oc on the train.
