I have alreadly given up all hope for the movie, but I'll still go see it first chance I get. But yeah, hope has died...

I'm pretty sure this is going to be better than He-Man, Super Man IV, those Joel Schumacher Batman movies, The Hulk, Super Mario Bros., and Catwoman combined. :)

Personally: w00t

Those that I have mentioned it to, all are non-fans, "holy-shiz that looks wicked, and that doesn't suck like the cartoon"

Pretty open minded and enthusiastic.

Every few years we go through the same thing "oh l think the new tf is good or bad". It seems that this movie has brought it all out, it is a very different path this movie is taking from what a lot of fans had hoped. The thing is do we want boxy static tf's with just characters we're used to or do we hope that this change is the shot in the arm that brings Transformers back to being the must have, number one Toy of the years and gives us the fan what we need to stay interested in the TRANSFORMERS LIKE WE HAVE BEEN.

I am a fan, and that's pretty much exactly what I said :tflaugh

I've had the same experience with my non TFan friends. Just got a EM from a friend who saw the bot pics on my Myspace account and was immediately like, "Wow these look awsome, I don't remember them ever being anywhere that cool." :tflaugh As for the love/hate of these designs. Personally I can't see most of the general public caring less what Prime, and Bumblebee looked like let alone were back in the 80s. All they will know is that this is a scifi action pic about transforming robots from another planet in a film by Micheal Bay with lots of car chases and epic explosions. That usually wins an audience over if marketing is handeled well.

About the "Why are optimistic people in favour of something never told to stfu for supporting something while others are." comment. Boy that seems a no brainer. Why would I tell somebody who likes something for whatever reason or is discussing something objectively to stfu. Does not make a lot of a sense to shut some one down for sharing an opinion, and when I say opinion I don't mean a "ZOMFG that SUX." It's opinionated but really not all that objective to begin with. Also in the case of the movie it's okay IMO to not like what's all happening with the designs/characters but to downright say it sucks without even seeing it is just arrogant and hateful. Not that that has really been an issue in most cases in the past week. i personally feel that if an opinion is presented with civility and argue objectively it should be respected either it be for or against. Don Murphy had the right idea with the "STFU fanboy" thread because of the members and bullBlot he's dealing with over their but I really don't see anyone here diserving of that. JMO.

I havent said anything on this so i'll just get it all out here. Its interesting to see how theyre embracing the whole alien aspect in the robot designs of but the five year old kid inside me isnt happy.

Im still open to the fact that the movie may be good and that the designs are allright in some ways, but ive never been a fan of Bay and just feel he doesnt have enough respect for the original material (bar some token gestures); the quality of G1 is the whole reason the fanbase and the legacy exists, i feel bay just uses the general concept to do whatever he feels, bumblebee's alt. form, for instance, is clearly not in keeping with the character's spirit which made him so popular and this arguably seems to betray one of Bay's desires to make elements of the film into his own version of the fast and the furious. Similar could be argued about the overly alien/bug decepticon designs being Bay's vision of 'transformers-War of the Worlds'

It would be fine if the designs were for a new cartoon series but im not sure about them straying so far from the original material for the first live action piece.

I wont see this movie as a transformers fan but instead il go into the cinema as a sort of layman and maybe then i'll enjoy Bay's new action flick.

I agree 100%

I'm worried that some one is going to get too pissed-off and send death threats to Bay and/or Murphy and that will scare them into canning the project. The reason why Transtech was cancelled is because some one sent death threats to Bob Skir and I'm worried about a repete of the fiasco because I really do like what I've seen of the movie so far. Are my fears unfounded or somewhat reasonable?

They won't can it now. It's way too far into production. I mean YES movies can be canned this far into production, but it's super-rare. And with this type of movie, this much money spent, and all that, I doubt it greatly.

you are such a reactionary extreme little thing arent you hornet...
