They weren't and that's my point. I stopped watching about half way through Energon. Caught a few eps of Cybertron, called it a joke and that was that. BM and BW were good shows (arguably the best in the TF) and I'd just like something along those lines.

I think a common mistake in the fandom is to confuse "intended audience" with "quality", and vice-versa. Adult fans are able to enjoy BW & BM not because they're geared towards teens/adults (they weren't), but because they were simply well-written, well-produced shows. And I think the opposite is true with A/E/C, which simply were. not. good. shows.

 

TF: Animated looks to be a pretty high-quality venture (certainly as far as TF shows go), so I don't imagine that it will have a problem finding adult fan appeal. Despite the fact that it is mose definitely being marketed to kids.

So I guess what I'm saying is, Animated feels like the Britney Spears best of album I'm somewhat ashamed of having.

 

 

 

I think its really fresh and new, we will still have the stuff for us fanboys in the universe line, embrace the coolness of TF animated and welcome the fact we have something which will kick the clone wars butt!!!!

Do I see that this Line will stand out in aesthetic contrast to any that stand before? Absolutely. This is a Toon accurate line that TFs. Nothing has EVER really done that to this degree. It's awesome and it's different. It is a departure from the Movie line, Classics, and AEC, ect.

 

Does that mean you shouldn't pick them up? No F-in way! These have nothing in common with G! either, niether did BW. Who Cares? These look great, give them their own shelf and enjoy them for what they are.

Believe it or not, these toys remind me a lot of very smoothed out Transtech designs.

 

But as a G1 redux, Animated wins. It approaches the original story in a completely fresh way, even in toy design. There's going to be a lot of turmoil on the collectors' shelves, that's for sure.
