Animated Concerns

Recommended Posts

I'd like to start off by saying I'm not bashing Animated in any way here. I think the toys look nice and I'm perfectly happy to see TFs being taken in a new direction.

That said, it's for that very reason I may end up not collecting the series. My collection currently has what I'd call 4 different 'aesthetics' as in design styles; Beast Wars, Movie, Alternators and AECC (with a sort of floating RID collection between BW and AECC). I'm wary of adding a new type of Transformer to the collection and making things even more complicated with more toys that 'don't fit'. I've never really been a fan of the 'animated' style before, although I do think it suits TFs.

Is anyone else a little bothered by this, and what do you guys recommend I do? To collect or not to collect, that is the question....

I collect what I like, not based on whether it would fit my collection aesthetics, but whether I personally like it or not. It would be like collecting only Decepticons. One would limit oneself from some extremely goodlooking toys. Animated I might very much enjoy, despite it not having the level of detail I usually look for in my TFs.

I'm going to collect 'em all once released. TF forever. Period.

Not to trivialize your concerns...but WTF? I think you are boarderline OCD if this is a real concern to you. Your post blew my mind.

Actually, I'm inspired to collect the whole line even thought there are one or two I'm luke warm on, just because I think they will look so good together. Just give them their own shelf.

Either way, this new collection will really have to grab me. I have no plans to collect'em just yet. I might just concentrate my efforts in catching up on other sets firsthand.

If you don't like them , don't buy them and save yourself the trouble of having to dump them on ebay afterwards. Plus it saves you a ton of money and it's not like your getting kicked out of our little club or anything.

Oh Boy. You think too much. For me, I like the figures I've seen so far and I'm gonna buy the ones I like and can afford. No real thought to it for me. They look cool to me and I'm gonna support them, Nuff said.

Lol. Happy I'm not the only one. :blaugh

Your concern is not invalid. Asthetics are a big part of collecting for me.

I don't understand the issue here really. Every line is completely different to me from a design stand point. Transmetals are different from TM2s. They both are different compared to BM. Armada is a giant leap away from RiD. So on and so forth.

Here's what I personally do. I started with BW. I displayed good guys with good guys and bad with bad. After I got too many to fit on the shelf/dresser I boxed the less favs. When BM came out they got a separate spot and then boxed. RiD replaced them all over time. Then I got into a phase of just displaying my big $20 and up figs. Armada got their own spot. then boxed then G1 was displayed for a time.

To close, for me every new line replaces the old one so There's no worrying for me what they look like together. I don't like a bunch of unnecessary clutter in my displays. If I had the space, I'd just seperate them all and and keep it moving.
