Animated Concerns

Recommended Posts

I for one LOVE the stylized animated style (*is superghey for Clone Wars*) and I'm totally psyched that they're actually pulling this off with Transformers. It could be really cool.

That's what I like. Seeing that the toys actually look like the toon in robot mode and vehicle mode.

A/E/C looked so much alike repaints frequently leaked between lines seemlessly. Classics was also very similer, It was just based on old designs. Rodimus is right to see that these are very different from the style we've been getting. I personally really like the new style. But it is different from just about anything we've had before.

QFT.

I like the animated style fine. I'm not sure what I think about OP's alt mode... but seeing as how I'm now thinking about picking up GF Prime... when I never really did before... I'll likely end up getting the Animated figs.

I dunno... I have all my MPs, A/E/C, Classics, and movie figs in boxes. I don't really get to display them. If one of them is sitting out, it's b/c I was messing with it not too long ago.

If displaying them together is such an issue, then buy them if you think you'll like playing with them, then keep them in a box when you're not playing with them.

Then sell the whole lot to me in 3 years for $20 :07evil

I don't think it's unreasonable to want feedback from your peers, but just get ready for a buncha people to cheese you about it!

I typically pick my TFs based on the appearance/bot mode/altmode/transformation complexity/awesomeness. I never really think about whether they coordinate with each other.

I should point out that I almost tend to gather TFs as more of a collectible art\sculpture\engineering thing than anything. It sounds very pretentious but it's true. I try to avoid having TFs literally crammed on to shelves the way I see a lot of people do. I went through a stage of doing that but I'm more interested in 'arranging' my TFs to display impressively than anything else (unlike Marvel legends where I do just catch 'em all). This is probably where this sort of concern comes from.

I'm also bothered slightly by the idea that by opening things up to TFs like the Animateds I'm sort of accepting 'animated' style stuff into my collection, which means the JLA figs, the SW figs, the animated Spawn stuff. That probably is my neuroticism though.

...also, WTF? Prime-Collector is the only one who gets me again? Were we seperated at birth or something?

can't stand animated, totally loathe it, but that doesn't mean others that do shouldn't be able to enjoy it JMO

To close, for me every new line replaces the old one so There's no worrying for me what they look like together. I don't like a bunch of unnecessary clutter in my displays. If I had the space, I'd just seperate them all and and keep it moving.

Dude, boxing them? If you run out of room, get a bigger house. ;)

I have that to a certain extent; my display is very cluttered right now, but I'm in the process of adding a second smaller bookshelf to spread them out on. It bothers me when they're all clustered and you can't get a good look at any individual figure; I'm displaying them for looking, after all. That being said, my classics/Ark crew display overwhelms whatever surface I put it on, there's just too many characters!

It's a slippery slope, man. One day you move outside of Classics, then you add a couple GI Joes, and before you know it you're swimming in mecha and wondering how much it would cost to get the Teen Titans.

Edit: does anybody want to sell me the Teen Titans?

I'm going to collect 'em all once released. TF forever. Period.
