I'm not talking about general disguise use, I'm not talking about returning characters, I'm not talking about the allspark...I'm talking about you wanting to see the exact same scene we already saw in the first movie. Wanting to see humans fooled in the exact same way they were in the first movie.

As for Sam's look of shock when something transforms...we had that scene already, too. Hopefully his reaction to a Decepticon would be, while surprise and fear would be part of it, hopefully it would be tempered by his adventure from the first film. He killed Megatron, for Christ's sake.

And he lives with Transformers now. Which means that if the Decepticons want to use him to find the Autobots, they just need to watch him walk out to his car. Once they find Sam, they've found the Autobots. Or at least Bumblebee, who would be much more tempting to the 'Cons than recording Spike's college lecture.

WOOOO!

Shiny Pillar does it again!!

Um... you still havn't explained your justification of Magic Shrinky

again...ALIEN ROBOTS....what more do we need to know. they are an advanced race. they survive innerstellar space flight outside of a spaceship.......wtf its a sci fi movie. SCIENCE FICTION. use your imaginations. Not everything in sci fi movies need to be explained!

Much to learn have you, young Padawan.

Magic Shrinky is dumb, suspension of disbelief jarring and unneccesary. Why would a responsible film maker introduce a concept deemed foolish even in cartoons since 1986?

That's just your opinion. Puerto Ricon is correct, not everything needs to be explained. And I have explained the usefullnes of mass conversion, particularly for Soundwave, too many times to count, and you have simply brushed them off because you simply hate mass conversion and no reason for its use will be acceptible to you. Soundwave is a large robot. This allows him to take on other full-sized Transformers. By the same token, he is also an expert at infiltration and surveylance. A small ubiquitous and inconspicuous alternate mode, like a portable stereo, allows him to better fulfill that role anywhere; be it a business office, a home, a military base, etc. Mass conversion gives him the best of both worlds. It gives him all of the advantages of being small when needed for infiltration and disguise, and being large when needed for combat. It allows him to take on an alternate mode that will blend in anywhere indoors or out, in any setting, and still become large enough to take on full-sized Autobots. That is the justification for Mass conversion.

yeah magic shrinking is dumb..like we didn't see it in the movie..here's a question:

where the hell did Primes sword come from when he decapitated bonecrusher?

if you looked at the length on that thing, there is no way it was secretly stored in his arm or forarm. magic shrinking or unexplained phenomenon indeed.

And here we go again - Forget what I might think or not think about Mass-Shifting...

But why for the love of God would the filmakers want to use Soundwave in the same exact instances/scenes that Frenzy did in the first movie?

Writer One: "Lets have Soundwave be a stereo that gets carried around into fital areas to spy on."

Bay: "Is'nt he suppsoed to be like 25-30 feet tall?"

Producer: "Right, he can't transform fully because if he did he'd be too big for the rooms and hallways, so lets have Ravage and Laserbeak transport him around."

Bay: "WTF?! Doesn't that sort of make him helpless and take away his cool factor if he's a retread of Frenzy?"

Do you see the problem with that Tramp?

Firstly, Soundwave becomes retardedly dependent on his minions. Secondly, he's a redux of Frenzy in a lot of ways. If you're gonna have a stereo-disguised 'Con doing sneaky stuff then just bring back Frenzy since it would appear to be very easy to do so. Also Frenzy wouldn't have to worry about turning into a robot and smashing through the building, unlike Soundwave. Cause you know smashing the building you're sneaking aroudn in makes for good espionage.

That isa a pretty ludicrous example. First off, So what if Soundwave is used in some of the same situations as Frenzy was. He can also serve in situations Frenzy can't. Secondly, As I have explained before, even G1 Soundwave didn't activate his mass conversion all the time when he transformed into his alternate mode. There were a number of times when he was a giant tape deck. Why can't movie Soundwave retain a small size in robot mode when necessary, but be capable of growing to full size the rest of the time? Example: he needs to sneak into a building, so, he transforms into stereo mode to shrink down, then transforms back to robot mode without using his mass conversion, sneaks into the building and get s into position before transforming once again into stereo mode. He then releases his minions who get into their postions as well, and the espionage begins, or the wait to spring their trap, whichever the mission is. That is how it can work in the scenerio you set up. thus, he wouldn't be a "retread" of Frenzy. He has much greater ability and versitility than Frenzy had. Besides, if any of the Decepticons in the movie are indeed permanently dead, it is Frenzy, and that is because his head, which contains his brain case, was destroyed, and that is universally fatal according to TF lore. Therefore, they would indeed need to replace him, and who better to replace him than Soundwave, the original Stereo Decepticon.

dude like 80% of us think mass shifting is out dated and silly so please stop trying to get it across its not. your fighting a loosing battle and alot of the posts just seem to be repeating the same thing

and a few pages back thier was a comment about what Iron hide and ratchet were they were Nissan Onebox Cherry Vanette's going by the diakrone details

Unless you have Frenzy. Tramp did you go out for Popcorn during all of Frenzy scenes? n. Frenzy being small was BETTER for infiltration because he could move around in human enviroments with out turning in to a 20 foot tall robot. Ever notice that all those places unsuspecting humans left Soundwave conviently had 30 ft high ceilings? Frenzy just Tfed right under that guys seat and went into the hold. soundwave wouldn't even have fit on the plane. The only reason for mass shifting is simple G1 Pureisem. It is out dated. It has been supplanted ON SCREEN.

I think it was made quite clear that in movie cybertronian tech, if you need some thing to turn into a small object you have a small tf.

That isa a pretty ludicrous example. First off, So what if Soundwave is used in some of the same situations as Frenzy was. He can also serve in situations Frenzy can't.

While it is true Soundwave would be more versatile than movie Frenzy, that line of thinking only works in theoretical discussion of the movie world. In practice you're actually making a movie, and you've got limited screentime to use to entertain your audience and tell your story. You've got new Autobots to introduce, new Decepticons over and above Soundwave, and you've got lots of old characters to expand on. That doesn't leave a lot of room for varying Soundwave situations that get to show off that theoretical versatility. It isn't "Soundwave: The Movie".

So his screentime is limited. If you use that limited screentime for Soundwave to perform Frenzy-can situations, you find you're rehashing moments from the first film. That's not great.

If you're going to put him into Frenzy-can't situations in your movie, you realize he doesn't need to be a stereo at all. You look at what else he could be, and you realize that, with the exception of one terribly ugly Titanium, Hasbro themselves haven't made him a stereo...or anything not a full sized vehicle...in twenty years.

QFT

I could just watch this thread all day, ya know? Makes me smile with a warm fuzzy feeling.

Also, rebuttal to an older post in the thread:

being that we've had blackout eject scorpinok, and the barricade figure pretty much ejected Frenzy out of his chest, Soundwave ejecting any of the cassettes out of his chest really wont set him off as special at all, so im wondering if they should leave that out in the movie. i know that it is pretty much a requirement of the character, but since we have already had it, it will likely come across as something people thought was cool in the first movie, so they over do it in the sequel

Barricade only "ejects" Frenzy in the toy. In the movie, frenzy rides in the passenger side front seat. He doesn't come out of Barricade's chest. When Barricade and Frenzy attack Sam, Frenzy jumps out the passenger side door. He doesn't come out of Barricade's chest. Only the toy does that.

Hello. I've watched the movie again. Now, I know it's a tad confusing of a scene because 1) It's night, 2) Barricade is black, and 3) He's using his million blade whirlagig weapon, but:

A) He's in robot mode

B) His chest / grill opens up for a moment.

C) Frenzy POPS from his chest with a spark and almost flare-like flash.

And yes, Blackout WAS conceived as Soundwave. This is confirmed FACT. He had more name changes than any other bot in the film!
