WHAT HAPPENED TO THE INSIGNIAS????

Recommended Posts

The insignias would have went a long way in identifiying the allegiance of each robot, versus the viewer having the identify who was who just by looking at them (other than optimus and bumblebee, they all kinda looked the same)

What happened to them?

They're actually trying to make an effort to disguise themselves.

They've always been part of the series, and they tie into the transformers history..

Weren't the autobots and decepticons at one time slaves and were branded with the 'autobot' insignia to identify them as such? THey then overthrew them, split into separate factions, and are the modern day 'bots and 'cons?

I mean to say, overthrew their robot overload masters that used the omega supreme clone looking things?

Starscream: "Bonecrusher, what the Hell are you doing?! Stop shooting at me!!!"

Bonecrusher: "Oh. You didn't have an insignia, so I figured you were an Autobot. Sorry."

Um, yeah... if you've been at war with the same dudes for as long as they have, I figure you'd remember who's the enemy by now.

And if you paid any attention, you saw them on most of the Bots. Not many of the Cons save Barricade and Blackout, though.

Most real soldiers (except some SF) wear badges to identify themselves FWIW. :thumb

The insignias are there...

Prime - Chest

Bumblebee - Forehead

Starscream - Forehead

Bonecrusher - Chest

Barricade - Doors

Frenzy - Forehead

And I believe Megatron and Ironhide's are on their chests as well (but I'm not totally certain). But Ironhide and Ratchet both have their Insignias on their vehicle modes, so it doesn't totally matter. And Bonecrusher's name is on his friggin' alt mode, so he definitely showing his true colors.

They're actually trying to make an effort to disguise themselves.

That makes sense for their vehicle mode. For robot mode, they need to have them be more visible than they are.

In the G1 cartoon, yes. In the G1 comics the insignias, the TF origins are totally different and the insignias seem to have more of religious connotation for them.

In the movie it is explained that the Decepticons began as a separatist movement who splintered off from the Autobots - in fact, the Transformers never refer to themselves as Transformers in the movie. At one stage, they were all Autobots - and as the prequel comics explained, with Optimus Prime and Megatron ruling side-by-side (hence why Prime refers to Megatron as "brother" at the end) until Megatron and those loyal to his cause divorced themselves from the Autobots - and (according to the comic adaptation) for their treachery the separatists came to be known as 'Decepticons.' From the Autobots' POV, the Decepticons are all traitors.

Hmm...methinks I prefer the G1 Cartoon origins...it seems so rich....the 'bots and 'cons once slaves, all branded with the autobot insignia,

overthrew their erstwhile masters, then, in the ensuing power struggle, (between an up and coming megatron and optimus prime) they split into two separate factions- one bent on war, tyranny and destruction; the other on peace, freedom, and amity.

Its so rich....and how would Unicron tie into their origins? Man....the writers for the sequels (as I'm sure they'll be) have such rich source material..Hell I'd love to be a part of the team if I could..

but I did struggle to find any insignias. Guess I was wrong.

Hey, here's another sequel idea- they need to have some 'version' of Unicron attacking earth..maybe wiping out 90% of human life....the screams...the tears.....the hopeless cries..
