I saw two kids crying out side already running shows

FTR I have never seen ET. Something about that makes me feel happy inside.

As for movies.

I was pretty sheltered & hadn't seen the OSWT until High school. Same with Die Hard 1/2 or any of the Indiana Jones movies.

After that I basically watched anything until after Event Horizon in 97. I was like OMG those people are eating each other they can do that in films. :tfpuke I've been more careful about movies since.

Event Horizon?

The movie where Sam Neil shoots Cowboy Curtais strait into hell? I laughed throgh half of that.

One dad had to take his kid out of theater because he wouldn't shut up. Definitely under 7, maybe 5? I did see a family come in with a 1 or 2 year old. THAT made me scratch my head. WTF would bring your kid to ANY movie at that age? Too cheap to hire a babysitter? Don't wanna let the grandparents watch the kid for 2 1/2 hrs?

BTW Sharptooth, do you think we should set up an online helpgroup for all those traumatized by ET - that bastard's got to have left more victims than just us over the years...

We probably should.

You'd be amazed how many people I know who said they were afraid of the Gremlins movies as kids, GREMLINS!

I don't think you have a leg to stand on here Mr. "Afraid of ET."

Okay imagine a creature if you will, which comes from another word, has dry wrinkly skin like an elephant's only brown and very dusty looking. It has short little legs, but long creeping fingers with a glowing probe on the end of them (look into the background of E.T. it was originally going to be a horror movie). It has a long expendable neck which protrudes from its sloping boney shoulders. You can not only see the creatures rib cage, but also some of its internal organs including its beating heart. It wheezes as it attempts to vocalize your name, "Ellliottt..." as it lurches ever closer.

Not exactly the freakin Telletubies is it?

From an English Critic's point of view, ET has an adorable ambiance to him, one becomes sympathetic to him, almost as a mother would a child. But he is very, very ugly and even a bit scary. This is simply to show young sapligs that even an ugly creature can be fun.

On a side note, I've never liked the movie.

But I've always hated gore movies; decapitations, blood, and explosions of bodies have never made me really cringe. The thing that makes me cringe is visualized torture. I can't stand watching the SAW movies (I really enjoy the plot, so I've seen all three) or even clips of HOSTEL, I instantly transfer whatever physical pain they may be going through into that exact pain on me. Death doesn't bother me, but torture does.

"We won't need eyes where we're going..."

That line made me laugh and cower at the same time.

The first time i saw Event Horizon was when it was on VHS, we got to the part where he said 'we won't need eyes where we're going'...and then a huge flash of lightening and the power went out...freaked me out there for a bit.

on a side note...the manikins at Macy's freak the Blot right out of me...damned manikins without faces...

I've never really watched a scary movie that phased me. Even from a young child I saw some pretty violent stuff. I think parents nowadays are becoming a bit too cautious, and it rubs off on the kids.

My parents never really cared about showing me violence or gore. Just sex and language.

One of the main things about The Exorcist that gets to everyone is the religion interaction. Even if you don't believe, part of your mind still says "Wow. I can't believe they went there...oh Blot, now her head's spinning..."

The Exorcist was scary due to the subliminal messages in the original uncut version & the fact it was (loosely) based on a true story. Religion doesn't mean Blot to me!

I was two years out of highschool & I've only seen the original vhs cut. Seriously I kept the lights on for a week straight at night. The scene where her head twists around is one scariest Powerglideing things I have ever seen. That & her jabbing crucifix into herself screaming **** me was again disturbing as hell.

I tried to watch Event Horizon a second time but wimped out right before the video replay of the crew mutilating one another was shown. That is just too much.

Anything else I've seen has been nothing. Silent Hill was easier to watch though it did get pretty tense/sadistic in the last bit.

As a kid Powerglideing Mumra from Thundercats gave me nightmares. Hated that show. :07redface

o_O

you guys have GOT to be kidding...

the exorcist is about as scary as Powerglideing beetlejuice
