Transfans Why are we so angry?

Furthermore, the Alternators remolds/repaints fall into that 5% category of RP/RM's that I like. For me, the term "repaints" doesn't apply to G1 for some reason. I know they are, but back then they at least gave them different names and they would usually have some different features instead of simply recoloring the figure and adding "powerlinx" or "energon" to the original name, which to me is kind of a cop out.

Then again, if the paintjob is cool enough,, it doesn't matter what it's name is. :tfgrin

I think the trick with repaints is to make each one look like its own character, and for each one to be cool in its own right. I'm thinking specifically of Prowl / Bluestreak / Smokescreen (tho I could say the same for the G1 Decepticon jets and others). Prowl looked cool. Bluestreak looked cool. Smokescreen looked cool. And even though they were basically the same figure, it looked as though any one of them might have been the "original", if you know what I mean.

Repaints, when they work, are awesome. RiD Scourge completely reinvented the G2 Laser OP mold. When I look at Scourge, I don't think "repaint". It is its own character. Scourge OWNS that mold. It's as if it was made for him. And that should be the goal of every repaint -- to create a NEW character rather than just a "differently colored" version of an existing one. And if it's not possible to do that, then maybe the character should just 1) not be repainted, or 2) be reissued as is.

Yes! Exactly!

I blame the collectors. They are the ones who forced the toy stores to change their policies. IMO they ruin it for everyone else. Toys are for playing with. You want an investment, go buy a savings bond.

You know I was going to continue my rant onto the "camping" collectors.

However I felt that my post was too long ...... bandwidth....right?!

Anywho you talked about this before on a different thread and again you're right as rain.

These guys are a pain in the A** and yes its because of their participation in the transfandom that it has become harder to get the toys we want.

It is weird, we don't get any of these type of collecters posting here. But I would sure like to read their veiw as to why they feel the need to "inhale" an entire shipment of new transformers.

On the other thread I have mentioned here, I had talked about the issue of "numbers" in the toys denoting what edition or release the transformer is.

Guess what.....

No one commented on the idea......

So that means that this fandom is not conserned with numbers.

Does that mean that these "weird" Camping Collecters are (they are going to be called CC's) looking for such numbers telling them they have the freshest toy?

Don't know but this also bleeds into another issue as to why Hasbro packs an expected figure so few per case.

Maybe they are playing to the collector who is trying make an investment in toys.

That kind of collector I don't care for.

I was glad to see unicron saturated into the market at such cheep prices. GOOD!

Maybe these Camping Collectors will stop buying toys and start buying bonds.

My transformers are not glorified Mutual Funds; They are there for me to transform and play with while I'm waiting for one of my sound or graphics projects to render.

My transformers are for Posing on my shelfs :)
