Transfans Why are we so angry?

Recommended Posts

I only get angry when I read posts by people (I won't name names) who are condecending and rude. Everyone has different tastes and opinions and I can respect that, but the way some people go about it can just piss me off. Most of the time I won't waste my time to respond to people like that, but then there are those times when I feel personally offended and annoyed by these people who think they are so superior and talk down to everybody else.

As far as getting upset about the whole Tak/Hasbro thing, I try to avoid it. However, I can understand and even feel that way when either company just does something so ridiculously stupid or redundant, or just plain treats their primary target market (anyone who likes TF's) like we're stupid and that we will buy anything they throw at us.

BTW Madhammer, I love that picture. Especially with color.

:pfx You said it.

Some of the things I really hate about TFans are those immature, bitchy morons who do nothing but hurl insults at every TF toy released that isn't G1. I was a regular TFormers.com visitor and I got sick of all those morons and Hasbro bashers who constantly did nothing but whine, grumble and maim Hasbro, but not saying any specifics or intelligent comments on why they hate Hasbro so much. Instead of constructive criticism, they just simply generalize every new TF line as "garbage" without saying any solid reasons why. It's okay to say that a certain toy sucks or a certain TF toyline or cartoon sucks, but one should write intelligently on why he/she thinks so. I also hate it when TFans deify Generation 1 so much that their nostalgia blinds them to the obvious flaws and imperfections of the line and the cartoon. Some of these G1 fanatics seem to want to shape every single TF toyline into the image of G1, and bashing toys that for them are "inaccurate", regardless of its quality. Another thing that is so annoying is fanatical Takara worshippers who think that Takara always does everything right and blame everything wrong on Hasbro, while having no idea how the system between these companies actually work.

I believe it's because of TFans like this that have given birth to some Takara bashers and of course our resident Hasbro basher-bashers and G1 bashers. Their behavior and offensive comments aren't really doing anything better for the TF community either.

I'm not even sure there is a lot of anger. I think it's just a few people who can't control themselves. It looks like a lot because they infect others and get them into arguments.

I really don't think there's a big problem.

Ok, I take that back. Apparently there are more angry fans than I thought.

Ok, for all of you "I'm sick of hearing about G1" people. Some people (myself included) aren't as impressed with the newer toys as you are. I prefer the older ones, and not because of "nostalgia". I just liked the designs better. And yes, I have a few from the newer lines as well, but not a lot.

As for the whole nostalgia thing, what's wrong with liking a toy from 20 years ago? Was there some law passed that says as soon as a new line comes out I can't like the previous one anymore?

No?

Didn't think so.

For all you who are being so vocal about not liking the new stuff, here's my advice :

DON'T BUY IT!

Nobody is holding a gun to your head saying "you must buy Energon". If you don't like it, leave it on the shelf.

I'm not even going to get into the Hasbro/Takara argument.

Blue Tracks vs Yellow Tracks :

No, Alt/BT isn't G1. However, if they wanted to make a yellow Vette, why pick the character name of a blue Vette? Not that it matters to me. IMO yellow on any car besides a VW Beetle looks ass.

Personally I'm not angry, but I do love all the passion that everyone has for this line even if it takes the form of anger.

P.S. Now that I am a collector I want to retroactively apologize for all the wedgies, swirlies, etc.

Nice thread;

Hasbro Bashing is back again :tflaugh :tflaugh :tflaugh

i dont hate the toys them self i like alt. dead end and tracks but its the fact they teased use with a auto logo on dead end then whammm hes a badie tracks im not to fused about but they others had g1 colours bar smoke screen i just thoght so would be tracks

The one thing that does annoy me (a tiny bit) is that Tracks and Sunstreker have a very simillar personality.

Making em both yellow makes them even less different.

But Blue or Yellow, it's still a cool toy.

I still fail to see how a character is defined by his color... Is Spider-Man not Spider-Man anymore once he wears his black costume?

Wait a sec. WHO IN BURNING INFERNO TEASED YOU WITH AN AUTOBOT LOGO?

Did Hasbro officially release the proto pics? Or were they taken off a prototype that was never actually meant ever to be seen for the public? :roll

I dont know, why dont you ask Bodycount he always has something negative to say.

Too true. :tflaugh

Bodycount is just looking for attention. We found that out in the shoutbox the other day.

As to the subject at hand: I don't think all TF fans are necesserily angry: it's more likely that some fervently adhere to there beliefs, and like many people, when they feel their beliefs or views are being challenged for any reason (logical or otherwise), they get scared inside. People tend to hate what they fear, and so these individuals get very vehement about their views,( speaking from experience: at one point, I was like that.) and they end up "not seeing the forest for the trees." It's a kind of "tunnel vision" that can hit anyone at one time or another.
