Transfans Why are we so angry?

You are correct Jacknife, they are more accurately called, remolds not repaints. In which case, Nevermore, LordMadhammer and others I apologize, thus far I am sick of seeing remolds in Alternators. And yes, I do not buy them, thereby I do not support them and I condone that Hasbro and Takara created them solely to milk us for more money. I know full well why they are doing this, but it does not mean I have not like it, do I?

Nevermore, as for the actual repaints in Alternators of Deadend and Silverstreak looking "superior" to the original, that is a matter of opinion. I do not like the repaints, you do congrats, we have a difference of opinion. Support them by buying the figs.

As for G1 repaints, I did not like them and I did not buying them, period. I am not trying to be difficult but for the record, I never said I like G1 Magnus, Trailbreaker, Hoist, Bluestreak, Prowl, Smokescreen, Red alert, Inferno, Frenzy, Buzzsaw and most of the G1 minibots. I never bought those figs. The only minibot I do like is Pipes and before anyone claims he is a repaint, he is not a repaint of Huffer, he had different molds for various parts. As such, I did not contradict myself.

Lastly Nevermore, regarding shelfwarming, research what has been previously written about this since it has been discussed extensively. The proof I have to offer is interviews from reliable sources. I know for a fact specifically in the areas I visit, various TF lines and specific figs are warming the shelves b/c I make an effort to speak with the managers of most of the stores. I also speak with the people who stock the TFs who are also collectors and they know better than most that x TF line and x TF figs are not selling. Moreover, I go to these stores on a regular basis, the figures simply are not restocked that quickly and the inventory in back has already been brought out. The stores are not reordering the same lines b/c their current stock has not moved enough to make it worthwhile to order more.

Do you want specific TF figs that are shelfwarmers? Lets start with Energon: HotShot, Inferno, Prime, Ravage, Tidalwave, Ironhide, Snowcat, SS, Strongarm, Rodimus, Prowl, minicons. Universe? Everything except Magnus. Armada? All minicons, Prime, Jetfire, roleplaying stuff, (plenty others that I forget the names to) and especially Unicron. Alternators? Everything. Reissues? Everything except Optimus and Hotrod. Feel free to contest this, but many stores across the USA have this problem, shelfwarming, do some research and investigate on your own if you are seriously concerned. It is real and not something I am making up.

nope, but I wish that everyone would give repaints thier dues.... and as for alternators, BRING ON THE REPAINTS

You would like repaints, OPP...

:D

Did anyone like, read that whole post?

If you do not want to, do not.

And OPP, not everyone likes repaints, that is their choice. If anything in the TF lines should get their "due", it should be BW and RiD. But the practice of repaints is something not everyone loves and/or appreciates. If you like repaints consider the TF Universe line.

To each their own and we all support TFs differently, but hopefully we still support TF by buying them. What we choose to buy, how often, and why we do is a subjective matter entirely.

Please don't apologize for calling them repaints, Fort Max. I was making a joke, that's all.

As for your post, you bring up a lot of good points. repaints are a matter of opinion and taste. if you like them, fine. If not, okay then. Life goes on. You feel Has/tak is milking the consumer populous; I agree with you. But i'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. Has/Tak isn't going to miss the 20 bucks I didn't spend on their product.( I'm still waiting for them to do an Alternator Prowl, but I think it'll be a repaint of alt Smokescreen and Silverstreak.)

As for the subject of "shelfwarmers," I generally buy something because I like the design of it, NOT because it's collectible or popular. if something is sitting there on the shelf for a while, chances are it SUCKS. Unless I need it for parts, I'm not even going to pay attention to it. But I do believe you on the shelfwarmer thing: My wal-mart has tons of enetrgon primes sitting there, all because Oppy couldn't stay away from the Doritos!! :D

No becuse off the mouth and sucky colors. I read Fort Max's post.

I think it's silly to claim that shelfwarmers are only there b/c they suck. What about "saturating the market"? "Too expensive"? And so on.

Re: repaints, if the Alternators is at ALL a G1 homage, it would be an insult for them NOT to produce a million Alternators repaints/remolds. :tftongue

I think it's the stores that might saturate the market, by ordering too much of what they think will be a hot toy. i might be wrong on this, but it's only a thought.

LordMadhammer, I agree that overpricing, market saturation are important reasons why shelfwarmers exist. However, in addition to this, I think we should also include the demand. Demand for specific TFs from various TFs lines strongly varies. Some figs just are not popular with kids and collectors alike. And regardless of the fact some of them go on sale, they continue to sit unpurchased on shelves. And as we all know there are plenty of Energon, Universe, re-issues and Armada figs still sitting on shelves. Demand for TF in general is good, but the demand for specific figures within each of the series is not as consistent/good. Oh well.
