More Transformers Movie Repaints Revealed

ratchet looks like an extremely-cautious-orangutan-boxer and that to me is awesome.

It's driving me nuts... who are the guys in your sig supposed to be?

They are DigiBashes of the minibots from G1 - done in new molds...

Warpath, Powerglide, Cosmos, Huffer, Gears, & I assume Hubcap (or Bumper/Bumblejumper).

I thought it was something like that, but I couldn't figure it out because there were only six and I was like "are these the 1984 guys, or the 1985 guys, or BW guys, or.... I DON'T KNOOOOOW"

it caused me some anguish

These redecos just go to show you how radically different and, in a word, UGLY, that some (if not most) of the movie molds are. They are totally unlike any Transformers from the past. To me, that makes me not like them very much. To others, well, I am sure they don't mind.

Lucky for me movie Prime looks the most like traditional Transformer.

A lot of the posts in this thread are almost an idication of fanboys growing up. G1 colours don't work in the real world of movies. It's almost as if Hasbro did this purposefully as a "Ha, toldja they wouldn't work like this in a movie. Though I can't defend the alt molds this is also a good tell tale sign that even with respectable g1 bodies colours such as these would still look absolutely silly.

Ratchet's a win in alt mold but red on white looks kinda ghey. Blue on white such as Armada Red alert would have probably worked a lot better. Movie Ratchet all the way for me. :thumb

Still loving Starscream though he's horribly mistransformed.

Someboudy oughta internet kick this guy in the balls for not bothering to look up the correct transformations.

Ratchet loooks like a helgan nurse :lol I guess I'll get the original version afteral. The original version isn't so bad if I keep reminding myself that it's a search and rescue vehicle and not an ambulance. Starscream is freaking hilarious :rofl I'm buying him just for the quirkiness of the toy. That's one Starscream that the fangirls aren't going to fawn over.

I love the notion that human heads would make no sense because these are aliens, but insect heads make sense cuz insects aren't from earth...

You're missing the point. We are naturally drawn to the familiar and averse to the unfamiliar. So the Autobots' heads look less insectoid and therefore more benign / friendly, whereas the Decepticons' heads look more "alien" in the sense of something foreign to us. It's all deliberately done to make it clearer to the audience who the good guys and bad guys are, despite the fact that there's no reason at all why any of them should look any different from the rest. (I mean, why not just make one type of head / battle helmet -- they only look different for the sake of the audience being able to tell them apart.)

I love the notion that human heads would make no sense because these are aliens, but insect heads make sense cuz insects aren't from earth...

Well for one thing insect are inherently "alien", which is why so many movie aliens look insectoid (Starship Troopers, Geiger's alien). And it's not like they are actually insect heads, it's just the closest frame of reference people have. Starscream doesn't look like a praying mantis or anything.

These repaints are totally Hasbro saying "these would have looked retarded in the movie, fanboys". Ratchet works in alt mode, but that's about it.

Thanks for ruining the thread, sertile! :tflaugh

If you've been collecting TFs for a few years you know all about repaints.

Some are actually better than the original deco!

And if you can resist the urge to buy a figure when it first comes out you may be rewarded for your restraint in the future. When an inevitable repaint gets released...

Like Univese RID Constructicon Dev, Energon Quickstrike, Cybertron Galvatron or Cybertron Excellion...

All far superior to the originals...

We did see a sketch of Movie Ratchet in white and red deco... It looked different from the green deco...

So that was probably another reason to repaint him besides the obvious G1 reference.

Great idea, just like Classics.

But I'm not sure if it works with these overly complex molds. The movie bots are so detailed and angular...

I'll have to see more pics and officil Hasbro info to pass final judgement.

But I'll buy the green deco. And group him with my Decepticon forces as Demolisher... Or Flatline...

The green just looks evil to me. Like the Constructicons...

Again, Starscream's G1 redeco is a cool idea. And the paint job is well done. But the figure just sucks.

If a bad mold is painted really pretty enough, do you still expect me to buy it?

No. I'll pass. I'll only buy Ratchet on sale, too!

But Prime I must have the Takara version if the paint job is superior...

I'm always ready to see more.

Thanks again for the updates!
