BotCon '07 Games of Deception Set Preview: Dirge

Recommended Posts

So you're confirming that Dirge is not getting remoulded then?

I'm pretty sure the picture that started this thread confirmed that...

It did? There was me thinking it was a mock-up & not a final production piece..... :roll

Oh wait.....

So can you confirm which (if any) of the jets (Dirge, Thrust & Thundercracker) will be remoulded yet please?
I can't confirm that yet, but as I said on another board, those who were involved with the making of these toys this year knew how important it was to stay with the Classics theme, that the toys be very representative of their G1 counterparts. So, take that as you will :)

.....I wonder if that's what made me ask..... :roll

Oh, sorry for the confusion, but yes, the Dirge you see is the final Dirge.

And there you have it. Are any enterprising kitbashers going to step up and make G1-accurate wings to sell through TransRepro or other parts sellers?? I know I'd be happy to buy those up! :thumb

Seriously? The difference between Ramjet and Dirge's wings is pretty minimal.

Of course, I never had either of them as a child and only knew them from the show. I was about 18 when I saw the toys and realized there was a difference, so maybe people with a more nostalgic hold on them would care...but still, Minimal with a capital "M".

I will understand the outrage the comes from seeing an unremolded Thrust, though.

fix'd :thumb

I won't understand the outrage the comes from seeing an unremolded Thrust that isn't available at Target for $10, though, since the line is pretty much dead, and I think Botcon is doing the fans a favor by putting these out.

Aside from my personal feelings about this whole thing, I was merely pointing out how ridiculous it would be to pay $300 for two straight repaints of Ramjet, a repainted Starscream and Bumblebee, and a Jetfire possibly remolded into a character that has minor significance in G1 - nothing more.

And actually, they would have done me more of a favor by NOT making these exclusives. You see, that way they could have had at the very least the remote possibility of being available to ALL of the fans if Hasbro decided to continue Classics later on, and not just to the elite few that can afford them.

Remolding Thrust seems to go without saying. I clearly remember the difference between Ramjet's and Dirge's vintage wings and don't think it's a big deal if Dirge doesn't get the second remold spot (but that's my personal tastes). From Pete's words, it may not have been that a diff char bumped Dirge out of the second spot. Couldn't it be possible that the cost of remolds is not unitary, meaning there was no second spot? And that Thrust gets all the remold resources or no char gets one? And 2000 is a pretty short run.

I'm sorry, but between the movie and the new series debuting after it, there's no way I could imagine Hasbro making expanding the Classics line a priority. Since Hasbro would have the final say over what exclusives get produced, I'm of the opinion that we get these Seekers from Botcon, or we don't get them at all.

I simply don't share that opinion.

Hasbro has showed us a trend of having sublines running alongside mainlines - Universe, Alternators, Titanium, Classics (because let's face it - Classics did run alongside Cybertron)
