Collection Database

I think the point was totally missed by Goki.

This has always been a contentious issue amongst Transfans.

I didn't miss the point - I know what Trainwreck's trying to do - but I was saying that in creating a database you'd need to come up with some method/system of classification/counting - e.g.: one check box for a Micromaster Patrol or four checkboxes? And it's true that fans have long argued amongst ourselves over which is the "correct" method of counting. I just didn't want Trainwreck's project to fall under a similar kind of flak, cos it does sound like a neat idea. As Siburke suggested, the database could be updated to utilise whatever would be the more commonly favoured method of counting. But we digress...

Moving on now...

The point of this isn't a counting system - that could maybe be an addition. This is a database of all figures & parts, if it's separate then it's listed.

Yeah, it sounds like a communal version of TFU.info, which sounds awesome.

The problem with TFU.info was that it all seemed to be based on the admin's personal collection. The problem with this being:

a) Some of his figures weren't in the best of condition. e.g.: his Pretender Bumblebee is missing a crapload of stickers and the Pretender Shell face is quite moderately scratched.

b) Some of this figures were incomplete. There are a few missing images for some accessories as well as figures etc. e.g.: The same Pretender Bumblebee page is missing a profile image from the comics.

c) There are several figures which have "dead entries" (i.e.: are listed, but entries are complete blanks, e.g.: Rodney), and others that he's missing which aren't listed on his site (e.g.: Pepsi Convoy).

I imagine that with a database that is communally maintained, we could see:

a) Photos of figures being updated with photos of toys in better condition (or just generally under better photography)

b) Ditto with photos of accessories.

c) Less "dead" and missing entries. Collectively we would all have almost every Transformer ever made - with a lot of us owning some rather rare and obscure figures that we could contribute. For example, I have a complete set of Autobot Chainmasters that I could add to the database and so forth.

Pretty much spot on - TFU.deluxe with user integration (& more updates!) :thumb

And 71 virgins...

Precisely what I had in mind :thumb :tfgrin

Its a very cool idea, and i know I'd use such a thing if it ever comes into being.

I know a lot of people would. Somebody needs to flag an admin over this way.

Does anyone have a mad set of breasts they could flash? ;)
