You mean the one that was called "Ultra Magnus" and only ever had one robot mode?

No, I mean the one that was called Ultra Magnus and had a li'l white Prime body inside the armor that he never removed in the cartoon :tftongue

You still have not shown me what I desire - Some original G1 Magnus comic luv

SHOW ME AND PROVE ME WRONG. A TOY PIC WILL NOT CONVINCE ME.

The toy is solid proof of my argument enough. It is you two who for some strange reason refuse to accept it.

Allow me to clarify: I had Ultra Magnus when I was a kid, so I do know about the White Prime cab. However, this cab (which I played with more than the big part) never got any mention at all, anywhere on the toy box, TV show, or in the comics. It was almost like it didn't exist :eek

Of course I realize that the figure is there, but calling Ultra Magnus "White Prime with armor" didn't happen until Dreamwave. Before then, it was just something that you weren't supposed to think about, since it was never mentioned.

It don't mean it wasn't like that in the cartoon continuity.

another :tflaugh

as a matter of fact, TFs didn't have sparks in G1. And when I say "G1" I mean "the time when G1 was around", just to avoid any further confusion.

But just so you know, retcon only works in fiction.... you can retcon the G1 story, but you can't retcon the actual time period that preceded the retcon, since it involves reality and stuff.

This is irrelevant. The show TFs were based on the toys(ignoring errors such as that Rumble/Frenzy crap), the end.

I really think we're talking about two different things here.

I'm talking about a character called "Magnus", and Lazerblast is talking about a toy (which was never given its own name or personality or identity of any kind).

and OMG I agree with X-Bob and stuff :emo

Not sure what you mean. "Magnus" is part of the toy. Of course he wasn't given the name or a "personality"(even though he's Ultra Magnus without armor and therefore wouldn't have a seperate personality). But he did come with small fists and a gun, and if the character as a whole wasn't a white Prime in armor, those accessories wouldn't come with him.

I'm sorry, but this explination seems like the most logical to me.

How many times do I have to say this? THE WHITE PRIME FIGURE WAS A BYPRODUCT OF THE TRANSFORMATION, as it was originally a Diaclone toy called "Powered Convoy", which utilized the Prime cab as a costcutting measure to make a NEW ROBOT FORM.

The toy is your only proof?

Then why did you say this?

No it wasn't. The comic crap just proves it wasn't.
Come on. Show me this pre-DW "comic depiction"

I WANT THE COMIC PIC THAT WILL PROVE ME WRONG.

It's called PLAY VALUE.

It has nothing to do with the character, ULTRA MAGNUS.

Oh and BTW the gun was also meant to be held by the bigger figure.

remember in season 3 when magnus said "man this armor binds in the crotch"?

I don't see the relevence of pointing out the original toy version.

No one said I was talking about "pre-DW" stuff.

It does too :tftongue

And you need to ease off the caps lock. Or at least not get mad over a damn toy argument :tflaugh

He came with that stuff because the original did. There'd be no reason to remove that stuff anyway since having another figure would enhance play value etc.

But all I'm talking about is the fact that there's no mention of (Ultra) Magnus being this white Prime in armor, unlike other figures like (for example) Powermaster Prime:

Tractor and trailer combined construct Optimus Prime's new super-powered robot form.

That's from PM Prime's tech specs. Ultra Magnus' tech specs don't say anything like that. That plus his appearances in the comics and cartoon = he only had one intended robot mode. The toy was, as shockwave mentioned, a leftover Diaclone toy; the design for it was conceived prior to "Transformers" existing. Hasbro's and Sunbow's decision therefore was to pretend that the white cab didn't exist.

And then DW came along and made a thousand kids' Ultra Magnus play times into canon for their alternate G1 universe.

I don't see the relevence of pointing out the original toy version.

wasnt that your whole arguement?

Oh! The Marvel Comics Ultra Magnus MIGHT just be a white Prime, because Classics is an off-shoot of the Marvel Comics continuity, and in Classics Ultra Magnus is just a White Prime.
